I know there are a lot of folks here who are playing are have played for sports teams.

What sports have you played for and what position?

I played football in high school. I played offensive and defensive tackle until I injured my knee in a game blocking a touchdown.

I spent the rest of the season on the sidelines helping the coaches with the game plays.

I remember those years of my life very fondly and it still keep me a fan of the game of pro football today.

Anyone else?

I played on floor hockey teams, little league baseball and I was on a few bowling teams. Looking back now I wish I would have been in better shape and more active when it comes to sports.

Believe it or not.

I have NEVER played on an organized sports team of any kind.

Growing up as a boy it was just me and my mom and she had ZERO interest in sports. I would always tell her about tryouts and we just wouldnt quite make it to the event.

Then when I reached high school and there were actual teams to try out for I was so far behind the curve that I never stood a chance.

I tried though.........

(I also was a scrawny little shit growing up.)

Sad isnt it?

Not much more sad than having to list bowling as a sport you did when you were younger lol.

Actually Ida, I was QUITE the bowler when I was a kid. I dont know if you have Candlepin in TO, (its huge in Mass) and my average was 114 at age 10.

In the time after high school and pre marriage my friends and I would get crazy high and go bowling at least 4 times a week. My point? Its not really a sport if you can excel at it when high of weed. haha.

Also, I freaking HATE ten pin. Candlepin is the shit. Nobody has it anymore though.

Yeah was just kidding Ida.

I'm not sure about the Olympics thing but I wouldn't doubt it.

Bowling is fun to play but boring to watch in my opinion.

THey don't have it here as far as I know, but you might remember that I was born and raised in Nova Scotia where all they have is candlepin bowling. A much more entertaining and harder form of bowling which I loved to play. My average was in the low 100's. Nothing better than being drunk/high and eating pizza with your friends and then go to midnight bowling in the dark lol.

Ahhh yes. That is great.

Listen to this one. My good buddy broke his neck in 1994 and was in tough shape for a couple years, (he is like 90% now, he will never be 100%) so once he was up and about again he went bowling as one of his first things he did. No lie, the kid could barely stand let alone hurl a ball down the lane. So Dave comes up with this funky ass way of basically dropping the ball real hard. (still dont know how he did it) and bowled a freaking 141. I tried for many years to beat that score. The closest I ever came was 129. I still find that story to be simply amazing. Too bad I suck at telling stories.
