Lemme see, who could it be? I used to take the A's in that one, though Boston was good too. Was it...Will "the thrill" Clark?

I remember when the Giants played the Cubs in the 89 NLCS and Shawon "Look at me...Look at ME!" Dunston beat out a weakly hit ball for an infield single. Clark borrowed a line from Major League by telling Dunston "You really knocked the crap out of that one!" and Dunston went all berserk on him. What a tool. Anyway, Clark was a pretty intense competitor.

Statistically speaking, in the last 8 years he's moved from a back table by the kitchen to the head table next to the likes of Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle etc. But he did it by taking steroids, so does it really count? Personally I think not, and I think it erases anything he did prior as well.

I can't just look at it like that and dismiss what he's done...I have a hard time beliving that it was all steroids and that he isn't an all-time great and the best player I've ever seen..I mean, at least 10-15% of the MLB was on steroids at the time...maybe more than that, and not one single player did anything close to what Bonds was doing. His seasons made McGwire and Sosa's seasons look like shit..Plus, I really don't think he was on steroids when he won hi first 3 MVPs..that already put him in the group of elites. Only player to have 500 homers and 500 stolen bases too..

Some more notes on Thomas:

(all rankings prior to the 2005 season)

He ranks 51st in career RBI
31st in career HR
100th in career Runs Scored
Tied for 77th in career doubles
Tied for 101st in career Batting Average
19th in walks

If you figure, assuming he stays healthy, he has maybe 3 years left including this one...he really looks to be HoF material.

I don't think Bonds was juiced until he went out to SF, so I'll go along with him being clean for at least the first two MVP awards. That's the whole thing, what you said...he didn't NEED to take the 'roids. He wouldn't have had the numbers he does now, but he would have been considered a great player. Personally I have no problem looking at a cheater and dismissing everything he did over the course of his career.

I don't see how anyone can look at his numbers and be legitimately impressed with them. We have no way of knowing when he started cheating, and honestly...you might as well assume he was doing it all along. We do know that he IS a cheater though, just like Sosa, McGwire, Giambi, and many others. I also think MLB is well aware of who the steroid users are (including those I named) and is refusing to admit it.

In my perfect world all proof of the fact these cheaters even played ball is expunged like they never existed.

It's too bad that it's only considered cheating if you get caught...because I have my suspicions on a lot of players from this era. Hell, I have suspisions about players right now who are getting tested..they are probably beating the tests some how...Prolly, still ahead of the testing programs. There are always more people who want to help cheaters than help stop cheaters.

I think there is a certain guy on the Phillies who is juicing as we speak, but I have no proof, so what can I do?..

I don't disagree with you. To be honest, I knew Sosa was juicing back in 98. When the Andro thing broke with McGwire and Sosa mocked it with his Flinstones chewables bottle I wanted to spit I was so mad.

I don't trust MLB to institute any kind of testing policy (or a program to deal with positive tests, which I doubt they'd make public) on an honest level. They won't do anything to incriminate themselves.

Think about something...if it comes out that MLB not only knew about the positive steroid tests but did nothing but hide the results, they'd be open to class action suits from ticket holders and would most likely go broke from the settlements. There's no way they will ever come clean with existing players, and I think its most likely that any new testing policies will be aimed at younger current and then future players.

Without steroids, Bonds was a HoF caliber player. With steroids, he became one of the top 5 hitters of all-time, along with Ruth, Mays, Williams, and Aaron
