Cam Neely

Is he a true hall of famer as he was inducted today into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

I say yes.

This dude was one of my alltime favorite NHL pllayers ever. Only Ray Bourque was ahead of him in my eyes.

I would like to hear some shit from others not from Boston.

Thanks

Ok..well, I live about an hour from Boston so I guess it's ok if I answer.

I say..no. When I think of a hall of fame hockey player, I think of people like Stevie Y and Forsberg...Neely didn't show me enough, although to be fair I didn't actually witness a lot of his career.

I just think the Hall of Fame in any sport should be held for the TRUE greats in the sport..It pisses me off when people like Ryne Sandberg and Kirby Puckett get inducted..they are just GOOD players, not GREAT players.

I'm glad Ciccarelli and Larmer didn't get in. I was a huge Larmer fan (being that he played out here) until he decided to become a whiny baby and break his consecutive games streak due to PMS, then wanted out of Chicago. He's been dead to me since. Ciccarelli was a Wing, so that's self-explanatory.

Neely deserved to get in, no doubt in my mind. I remember him lighting the Hawks up in the late 80s once, it was sick. He was consistently one of the top players when healthy and although the Bruins go anywhere with him on the ice, he still made them a tough opponent every time out.

Whoa whoa whoa. Ryne Sandberg? Bro, he's probably the greatest (at worst top 3) second baseman ever...and I'm a White Sox fan saying that. Sandberg was great, pure and simple. Check his stats...check his fielding percentage. The guy had range and power.

You want to check out a second basemen's stats go check out Jeff Kent's career...and he is no hall of famer. Hold on..I'll be right back..

Considering how much ass whooping he put on his opponents leading to all those penalty minutes he still managed to score all dem goals. He was the first offical POWER forward in the NHL.

He would flat out beat you down, then score a couple goals.

He had a nice career...I don't want to take anything away from the guy, except his Hall of Fame status..

Ryne Sandberg's not in

Plus, he was the best second baseman in baseball in the 1980's...i think he should definitely be in

Ryne Sandberg - 10 consecutive All-Star appearances, 1984 NL MVP, 9 consecutive Gold Gloves, 1990 NL homerun champ (40), batted over .300 5 times, 100 RBIs back-to-back seasons, 100+ runs scored 7 times, 200 hits in 1984, 344 career stolen bases, 54 stolen bases in 1985

This is where my other thread comes in handy

Sandberg's career stats (16 seasons):

B.A.: .285
OBP: .344
2B: 403
3B: 76
HR: 282
RBI: 1061
R: 1318
SB: 344

Also includes 40 HR in '90, which (it may have been topped since, not sure) I believe is the best single season total for a second baseman. Six seasons 25+ HR.

Fielding %: .989 I believe this is the top % for all second basemen. Think about that number...that's some kind of leather being tossed around at a high traffic position.
