But tell me, what the hell did Sandberg do in the playoffs? Oh..that's right. Well, I guess I can't hold it against him, but you have to look at the career and for Sandberg there isn't enough to make me say, "Wow, now that's really impressive"

Back to hockey, yes Cam Neely should technically be in the HHOF. Essentially he was the NHL's first ever power forward (Esposito not measuring up, since all he really did was stand in front of the net). It's just that career cut short and the one Stanley Cup ring Neely does not have, that's held him back.

Cam Neely is one of my all-time favourite players, but I really don't think he stacks up next to HOF requirements. He was awesome and intimidating and one-of-a-kind and everything, but only for a handful of seasons; if people are going to argue that Pat LaFontaine shouldn't have gotten in, then there's no way Neely did enough to warrant entry. Not to mention he never even topped 40 assists...

Who did he have to pass too, Craig Janney? And old Oatesy was never a scorer himself. I really do agree with the LaFontaine comparison, at least it was refreshing to see Guy Carbonneau inducted. Neely really didn't have the longevity to measure up a Hall of Fame career, and it's a given that if Ulf was never born, he would be there.
