| The Rockies lineup is pretty sick...Galarraga and Ellis Burks didn't even make the cut.. The Marlins team would win though..they have everything you would want from a team. Hitting for average, Hitting for Power, Speed, Defense, Starting Pitching, relief pitching...actually it reminds me of the '97 Marlins team that won the World Series..that team was sick and could have won a couple more championships if the owner kept them together. | |||||||||||||||

Here's a case where stats are misleading: Bobby Thigpen. I always said that if he were an Indian his tribe name would be Hanging Slider. The 57 save year was mostly luck and very misleading as he was hit hard but it was always right at somebody, and a lot of his walks were erased on double plays. Their setup man that year, Barry Jones, probably could have had 60 saves if they reversed the roles. Carlton Fisk actually used to live in a town near me when I was a teenager. One day I pulled up next to him at a stoplight and caught a dirty look from him as he was rolling up the window of his pickup truck due to my loud car stereo. ![]() Another fun (for me anyway heh) tidbit that I just thought of, and maybe Simon remembers this guy. Jim Dwyer, played a couple years with the BoSox in the late 70s...he used to live behind me and was from Chicago to begin with I think. Every time we played Boston and Dwyer made a play, Harry Caray always used to say "They're dancing in the streets of Tinley Park tonight!" Which of course? Not so much.

| When I was putting the list together, I was shocked at how many Hall of Famers the White Sox have. I had to leave a lot off. Yeah, Ventura is ridiculously clutch. He has like a gazillion Grand Slams in his career. That was probably the hardest decision. That, and Hooper in right. He played most of his career in Boston, but ended his career in Chicago and was pretty good those 5 years, so I went with him. Fisk, Thomas, Baines, and Collins were no-brainers, and Shoeless Joe was a pretty easy choice too. | |||||||||||||||

You probably could have gone a couple other ways with RF, including Magglio Ordonez, but I didn't want to nitpick. I remember Ventura had 2 Slams in one game against Texas back in 95...Labor Day that year, I think. I was so mad when they let him go, he deserved to finish his career here. We deserved to have him finish his career here. But then if you look at the moron GM we had (Ron Shueler, idiot extraordinnaire) and how he and Reinsdorf treated Cartlon Fisk (released him in the middle of a series IN Cleveland in frigging June after he set the record for most games caught)...can't be surprised.

| Hey Mr. D, thanks for doing this man. If we had a "Thead of the Year" award, I'd gladly vote for this one. I see that Pierre is the only man so far to be on two different all time teams. I wonder if anyone's gonna make it on three different all time teams. | ||||||||||||||

| A-Rod might be on three if he becomes a truly great Yankee...He's got the time to do it. Umm...Bonds would make it on the Pirates and Giants I'd say..but I dunno, maybe he didn't do enough for the Pirates. | |||||||||||||||
