| Best SS in MLB So now that A-Rod is at 3rd for maybe the rest of his career who do you think is the best SS in baseball? If A-Rod would have stayed at SS I'd probably still give him the nod. So lets see... Miguel Tejada-Baltimore: In the field he's not the best...he makes a lot of flashy plays but fucks up some routine grounders. At the plate he's been getting better and better or should I say scarier and scarier...he's a monster. Last year he had 150 RBI and probably around 30 homers. He's good for around a .290-.315 average on a given year. Jimmy Rollins-Philly: Might be the best glove of all the SS but can't hit a lick...at least not compared to the others. Not the best..but solid. Rafael Furcal-ATL: Kid has blazin' speed...can turn a routine ground ball into a hit if you don't hurry. He's gotten some real pop in his bat of late too. He used to be just a single/double guy but has the potential to hit 15-20 HRs a year now. My fav. in the NL but then again I'm a Braves fan...lol Derek Jeter-NYY: He makes all the plays in the field and does all the little things you can ask of someone. In the playoffs he is flat out scary..With the game on the line he might be the most feared guy in baseball outside of Bonds. However, in the regular season he has dropped off a lot. I remember when he used to hit like .330+ and now he's around .295 and doesn't drive in many runs either. I know he's basically the leadoff man now, but in that lineup a leadoff man could drive in over a 100 easy...look at Johnny Damon last year with the sox. Jeter is a GREAT player though. Nomar Garciaparra-CHI C: A couple year ago was known as maybe the best pure hitter in baseball. His lifetime average I believe was around .325. I remember one year when he hit like .370. He used to hit around 30-35 homers as well. Now he's been so injured the last two years I don't know what to say...his defense is suspect as well. Used to be one of my fav. players. Edgar Renteria-Boston: Very good hitter. Doesn't hit many homers but in Boston that could change. With runners in scoring position he is a monster and is a very good hitter in the playoffs as he has proven in Florida and STL. He's a former Gold Glove winner as well. He's perfect for the two spot in the Red Sox lineup. If he stays healthy he should drive in near 100 runs. So what do you think? If I forgot anyone let me know...I wrote this up rather quickly. Personally, I love Tejada the more I see of him so he'd probably be my pick if I had to choose one...Guy is a one man wrecking crew. | |||||||||||||||

| Those are pretty good choices, all of them are arguably among the best at their position. I still think the best SS in baseball is playing 3rd for the Yankees though. | |||||||||||||||

Oh and read my post Bike...I said let me know if I fogot anyone "I wrote this rather quickly". No need for attacks. Orlando is good. Very good hitter in the clutch...has some pop...and won a gold glove in Montreal. He also showed that he can play very well in the big market while in Boston. Very underatted player. I'd say the Sox really didn't upgrade a whole lot if any with the Renteria signing.

Yeah...but not a SS. LOL, he can go fight with people like Chavez, Glaus, Chipper, and so on for that title. (Which he wins by a landslide..lol)

| Yup...I was at the game last night. The best was the second homerun. He hit a 3-run shot in the first inning, and then Colon threw one up and in the next at-bat, so A-Rod crushed the next pitch for his second home-run. He got curtain calls after the second and third HR's. Also, I was sitting in the Right Field bleachers with the nut-jobs. All I'll say is that during a blowout, you see and hear some pretty interesting things out there. Well, you hear those things every game, but ESPECIALLY during a blowout, haha. As for the best SS, I'll pick Tejada. Great with the bat, great in the field, pretty clutch too. Remember when Oakland had that 20-game winning streak a few years ago and he had like 3 walk-off HR's during that streak? It was in his MVP year. I'll say Jeter is #2. Not to alarm anyone, but Jeter's hitting .355 this year, and he's a genuine 20-20 threat every year. NOBODY in baseball has more clutch plays the last 10 years (Since his rookie year in 1996). The flip, the dive into the stands, a catch falling into the stands against the A's in the playoffs, the walk-off homerun in Game 4 of the 2001 World Series, the walk-off homerun against the Red Sox earlier this year, the Jeffrey Maier homerun, and many more. Also, he only batted .292 last year, but thats because he got off to a HORRENDOUS start. He was batting .189 on May 25. He batted .338 the rest of the season. Plus, he fucked Jessica Alba. also, Carlos Guillen of the Tigers is batting .400 so far. He's got some power too. Looks like he could be the next big SS. | |||||||||||||||
