Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Yeah, Brian Berrian. He did have flashes of brilliance so he may pan out. He ran ok routes but couldn't seem to get open much, he needs to work on that. I remember Marty Booker's first year, he was a complete buster. Then the next year he actually was servicable, and by his third year he was a force. I remember him interviewing that he just decided one day in training camp during his second year that he had enough, that he was busting his ass from this point out and was going to become a great NFL receiver. Point is, it could happen with Berrian as well...or even Justin Gage or Bobby Wade. I just think its too great of a risk to take a guy like Bradley (who is clearly a project) with that high of a pick when you need a solid #2 guy at the position. As mentioned, it apparently was a tough draft to trade down in. I guess its just a rough break that of all years to have a 4 pick the WR you needed (imo Clayton) was a late first rounder. Heh, now watch Benson rush for 1700 yards and 14 TDs.

Sadly, I also don't think it matters how good a receiver is, he will never be good in the Bears offense, at least until they find a way or a guy who can stretch the field. I thought Muhammad was a pretty bad signing for them actually, considering he doesn't really have the wheels needed to open up the Bears offense, which is what they desparately need. Maybe Grossman will prove me wrong, if given a real season-long chance. Kyle Orton certainly will not; he blows.

That's the thing though, if he pans out they are in good shape...if he doesn't they are back in the same position.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Speed wasn't the problem with Bears receivers so much as just getting open was. Too many times Grossman (or whoever) would be scrambling for their lives and have to force throws because guys like Terell didn't work to get away from their coverage. Berrian had the speed, I remember one game they started off with a long TD pass to Berrian where he just smoked the CB. Then you need to consider their offensive scheme, which if what I heard was correct was possibly (on a statistical average) the worst offense in the entire history of the NFL lol. Actually defending the Bears last year after Grossman went down wasn't that difficult. Sit on the run, don't sweat the pass. Scatter-armed QBs who aren't mobile and can't make reads or throws. Bradley might work out, I don't know. I just think that considering their lack of depth at the position and other needs (safety, OG) they would have been better served drafting differently with that pick. If they got Bradley late 3rd or anywhere in the fourth I would have considered it a risky, but respectable, pick. I just don't know about 39th overall though. As far as Grossman goes, I like him. He has that little intangible thing that good QBs need, he just needs to stay healthy. His injury last year was kind of freak, he tore his ACL (one of the CLs anyway) cutting on a scramble which he scored on. Just bad luck maybe, hopefully not a trend. I will say this though: if Grossman gets hurt again this year, they need to draft a QB in the first round next year.

I like Grossman too though..He was a real tough guy at Florida. The O-Line wasn't protecting him at all and he got banged around like crazy. He kept fighting and working hard and would still make the tough throws with guys on his back..I remember one game he had against Georgia..where the same shit was happening the whole game..and he pulled through. He made me a believer in him that day and he certainly deserves a shot at being the starter for the Bears.

Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's not just last year I'm talking about though. Bears' offenses have been embarrassing since whenever I began watching football. It doesn't get much worse than when John Shoop was calling the plays and they had Kordell Stewart run an OPTION on MNF versus Green Bay -- THREE TIMES.

Frank Gore scored a 6 out of 50 on the Wonderlic. Side note: I had to take the wonderlic for my job. I wonder what I got? It must have been good, since I got the job Matt Cassel was Leinart's back-up at USC. He has 33 career pass attempts. How he gets drafted before the NCAA's carrer passing-yards leader is beyond me

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | The Bears wind up with crap offenses normally because the McCaskeys hire coaches on the cheap. That Kordell Stewart fiasco was...damn, it was horrible. As far as Grossman and toughness go...against Detroit last year (season opener) he was getting knocked around a little late and talking all kinds of trash back to the Detroit defenders. At one point he got hit REALLY late after throwing the ball and a flag was thrown. As soon as Grossman saw the flag he went running up to the Detroit player (who was still on the ground), leaned over, whispered what looked to be "hey dumbass" and pointed at the flag. He then laughed openly in the guy's face, which caused this guy to have a meltdown and try to kill Grossman. LOL That's when I decided I lurved me some Rex Grossman at QB!
