| My fantasy baseball draft So, about a week after it started, my fantasy baseball league at work is set. Despite making a few picks from the bar drunk on St Patty's Day, I'd say I did pretty good: C - Ivan Rodriguez 1B - David Ortiz 2B - Alfonso Soriano SS - Carlos Guillen 3B - Aramis Ramirez OF - Carl Crawford OF - Larry Walker OF - Steve Finley Util - Casey Blake Bench - Craig Biggio Bench - Matt Holliday SP - Roger Clemens SP - Rich Harden SP - David Wells SP - Freddy Garcia SP - Brad Penny SP - Bronson Arroyo SP - Matt Morris RP - Billy Wagner RP - Jason Isringhausen RP - Shingo Takatsu (White Sox closer) There's 10 teams in the league, scoring system is rotisserie, 5X5 (Runs, HRs, RBIs, Steals, Batting Average on offense; Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, ERA, WHIP for pitchers) I've got great guys at the two hardest positions to fill (2B and C) and a SS with a lot of potential. I also have top level guys at 1B, 3B, and one OF spot (Crawford). Plus, I have 3 solid closers, which should help me with saves, ERA, and WHIP. I had Clemens ranked very highly also, and I was ecstatic to get him. Larry Walker is a risk, but I think he can do very well batting 2nd in that potenet lineup. And Holliday, playing in Colorado, could blossom into a good player (at least stat-wise) playing up in Coors Field I'm happy | |||||||||||||||

| If this is a 5X5 league my guess is you did pretty damn good for yourself. C - Ivan Rodriguez <------------He scares the shit out of me. 1B - David Ortiz <-------------STUDMUFFIN !!! 2B - Alfonso Soriano <---------STUDMUFFIN !!! SS - Carlos Guillen <-----Was 2004 an abberation or sign of things to come? 3B - Aramis Ramirez <-----------I see a HUGE year from him OF - Carl Crawford <------------just about as good as the come in 5X5 OF - Larry Walker <-------------will get hurt. he always does. OF - Steve Finley <-------------ouch Util - Casey Blake <---------------Not great, not bad. Bench - Craig Biggio <--------------Icky Poo Bench - Matt Holliday <-----------I have him as my No.1 sleeper. SP - Roger Clemens <----------Cant go wrong with the best pitcher ever SP - Rich Harden <-------------Could have a monster year, could go .500 SP - David Wells <------------- See above SP - Freddy Garcia <------------Underrated by some, overrated by others SP - Brad Penny <--------------Good pitcher SP - Bronson Arroyo <----------Good MLB pitcher, not the best fantasy guy SP - Matt Morris <--------------Good pitcher RP - Billy Wagner <-----------Stud RP - Jason Isringhausen <---------Stud when not hurt, but is hurt too much RP - Shingo Takatsu (White Sox closer) <---------No idea about this guy You should see if these guys are available. They may be. JD Clousser Catcher Colorado Garrett Atkins 3rd Colorado Dallas McPherson - 3rd Anaheim Aaron Rowand. Also, in a 5X5 league, try to trade for Corey Patterson. He is money in 5X5's I would give you a B+ to a A- on this draft. Mine is Saturday. Details below as too not confuse. | |||||||||||||||

| My leagues draft is Saturday. I gave up my commissioner role after having it for over 10 years. I just couldnt balance the forum, the leagues and other shit so I gave up the fantasy commissioner role. I was burnt out from it anyhow. My league was the first that I could remember that used a salary cap system. Its based on having to draft between 18-21 guys and a 300 dollar cap. There are 14 teams so lineups get thinned out pretty bad. You really need to know you stuff and get lucky with your keepers. Keep in mind that the studs can go for up to 75 bucks. The average player ala Johnny Damon or Gary Sheffield would be say 35 bucks. We are alloted up to 5 holdovers. You can have a guy on your team for up to 5 years including the year he was drafted. Here are my holdovers. Justin Morneau $2 Corey Patterson $8 Joe Mauer $4 Kahil Greene $10 Aaron Rowand $4 With these low cost holdovers I can go hog wild getting either Manny, Arod or Vladdy Daddy. (Pujols is held over at $73, yikes) | |||||||||||||||

| Rowand was taken, but the other three are available. As for my draft strategy, I waited until I had everything else filled before taking OF's because I feel they're a dime a dozen. I might have too many pitchers, but I figured I should have a lot since I took chances on guys like Harden (who I picked when I was so drunk I had no business trying to make a pick), Wells, and Arroyo. Wells and Arroyo will probably rack up wins, and Wells is a WHIP monster. I got Morris in the 20th Round, I guess because everyone is scared of him repeating what he did last year. But in the years prior, he was VERY good. I really hope Holliday plays well, so I can plug him in for either Finley or Blake. Or, if Walker gets hurt. I'm giddy thinking what Walker can do if he stays healthy though. Also, Biggio scored 105 runs, with over 20 HR's and like a .280 average last year. Pretty solid for a guy taken in the 19th round Oh, and I also picked Guillen when I was really drunk...Khalil Greene is available, so I might pick him up for insurance. I think he's a good player | |||||||||||||||
