Giants make two big free agent signings

Yesterday the Giants signed Redskins MLB Antonio Pierce. Last year was his only good year, but it was a great one. He led the Redskins top-5 defense in tackles. Hopefully last year wasnt a fluke

Today, they signed Jets RT Kareem MacKenzie. Best thing about him, from what I read on a Giants message board, only 2 holding penalties in 4 YEARS!!!

Things are looking up for the Giants. On D, we have two great DEs in Strahan and Umenyiora. We have three good LBs (Pierce, Carlos Emmons, Barrett Green), two good corners (Allen and Peterson), one good safety (Shaun Williams) and the other safety (Gibril Wilson) was incredible before getting hurt.

On offense, we might actually have a servicable line (Petitgout-Snee-O'Hara-Diehl-MacKenzie), plus Shockey wont be asked to block as much and can go downfield and catch passes. We also have some good young recievers who have had injury problems, like Tim Carter and Jamaar Taylor.

Injuries have killed the Giants the last two years, but if the team can stay relatively healthy this year, and Eli improves (he cant get much worse) i think 8-8 is a definite possibility.

Haha I was gonna say you were getting your hopes up until you said 8-8, but that sounds about right to me. Looks like a good start though!

Yeah it's a good start, but I never seen anybody get that excited over 8-8..lol

I'll tell you what though, if the Niners go 8-8 I might get excited myself.

Well, I'm not THAT excited about 8-8, but what I am excited about is the Giants making a concerted effort to cure their biggest ailment the last couple of years, that being O-line, with the MacKenzie signing

I think it's time for Shockey to play like we all know he's capable of. He could take over some games...He talks enough..time to play.
