| Would an NFL team work in Canada? The Blue Jays are a lost cause, The Expos are gone, The Grizz are gone, The Raptors will be gone eventually. So would a NFL team work? I see a lot of y'all like your CFL, so I'm wondering, would you support the team? | |||||||||||||||

| I'd support it myself, but it would never work. Actually, the NFL is a strong enough league that they could easily support an NFL team in Toronto, but it would probably be pretty un-wise of them. If they're going anywhere it's Los Angeles. Football isn't hugely popular in Canada, and there are definitely a lot of old-fashioned folk who have beef with the NFL. The NFL right now is the perfect model of a sports league, they'd never do anything to throw it even a bit out of whack. As for the Raptors, they're doing a lot better in Toronto than you seem to think. Toronto is a great sports city that supports all of its teams, and the fact that there is a whole country behind teams like the Jays and Raps means that they probably aren't going anywhere for a while. Vince Carter gets voted to the All-Star game every year as a starter, that's just indicative of how much support Toronto sports get. | |||||||||||||||

| That's fine, Carter is gone now, but anyway I don't want to get into a whole thing, but the Grizz left, and now w/o Carter I think the Raptors are doomed in Toronto. But the real thing to me is the Jays, Yeah they packed Sky Dome or whatever it's called now in the early 90's, but I don't see how they get supported now. The dome is never even close to being sold out anymore, and the team never spends any money. Plus we all know, the way MLB is set up now, The Yanks and Sox will never allow the Jays to even sniff the playoffs. But that wasn't really my original question. | |||||||||||||||

| I know, with the way baseball is set up, it's hopeless being a Jays fan. The Dome doesn't get filled, you're right, but keep in mind that its capacity is upwards of 5 billion people. They did go out and spend cash on Koskie this offseason, whether or not that was a good move, and GM J.P. Ricciardi has said he realizes they won't be competitive for another few years. I forget which team he likened his model to, but he says he's trying to build up from within, which I think is always the most satisfying route to go (Halladay, Wells, O. Hudson, A. Rios, R. Adams are a great start)... of course with baseball today, it's probably a lost cause. Fuck the Yanks, fuck the Sox, fuck 'em all. :evil99: | |||||||||||||||

| At least you understand. I was judged wrong in a debate over the A's. I didn't have a problem with the way they ran their team (I thought they could have spent more money on players if they would have sold out 81 games) and I don't have a problem really with the way the Jays are trying to run things, I think JP Riccardi is a smart man, but if they had 45,000 a night in the stands it could help there issue. Sorry to say, The Jays are in much worse shape than the A's even are. Yeah The Angels spend a ton, but not too crazy, and if you build the team right you can most certainly get past the Rangers or M's. The Jays would have to not only get past The Yanks or Sox, but the O's are starting to spend a lot of money too. And while money doesn't guarantee a W.S. Championship, The way the Sox and Yanks spend they will never have a losing record, and that's fo sho. | |||||||||||||||

| Freak! Come on man. Defend the Raptors and Nice how you left out the Leafs Blitzkrieg. Your post REAKS of ignorance towards Toronto. Get a clue. It all has to do with attendance and population. Toronto has plenty of people who go to Raptors games and the city has tons of money to keep things going just fine. I am sure there are plenty of American cities with a lot lower attendance that TO in any sport. What is your whole point anyway? What are you basing all of this on? Congrats, American is a bigger country and has more people. Oh and the team is doing great with our Carter. | ||||||||||||||

| ...Toronto is one of the best city when it comes to sports....everything works here. NFL would be huge here, but it will never happen. Who do u think goes to Bills games? Torontonians. The Buffalo Bills is the reason Toronto aint getting a NFL team. Toronto is one of the best markets for sports. | |||||||||||||||

| You're going a little overboard there Narc... there are a ton of markets that the NFL would be better off in than Toronto, and maybe 32 or more. That doesn't mean Toronto wouldn't be capable of hosting an NFL team, but they wouldn't be nearly as attractive as a lot of American cities. | |||||||||||||||
