Last time someone made this topic, I pointed out that someone had already made this topic. Hah. Maybe with Emmitt's retirement though, we can get a debate out of this.

I vote Jim Brown.

Nah it's cool, Spinoff will probably waltz in here and try to actually argue that Emmitt Smith was better than Jim Brown or Payton or Barry.

Barry and Jim Brown have very similar career paths. Both retired way too young.

I always just wonder what Barrys numbers would have been like had he been on Dallas instead of Detriot all those years. He was simply amazing to watch.

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

I figuered this would be an argument between Brown and Barry. I do think Barry is 2nd.

I dunno if Barry would have gained that much from a real offensive line... I mean, he was never the kind of back to just hit the hole and go. He liked to dance around the line for a little bit, then break off and go wherever he thought he could fit. But maybe a real line would have added that straight-forward dimension to his game, and made him better, who knows. I'm sure he would have benefitted from a decent quarterback like Aikman though (the Lions did have wideouts), and a defense to keep Detroit in games.

Yes, but here are some of the future Hall of Famers he had at QB......

Charlie Batch

Gus Frerotte

Scott Mitchell

Dave Krieg

Rodney Peete....

When Charlie Batch is the best QB on that list of the guys that he played with then he doesnt have a chance in hell.

How about some of those "good" wideouts?

Here are the top recievers from each year he was around

2000 Johnnie Morton 61 788 3
1999 Germane Crowell 81 1,338 7
1998 Herman Moore 82 983 12
1997 Herman Moore 104 1,293 8
1996 Herman Moore 106 1,296 9
1995 Herman Moore 123 1,686 14
1994 Herman Moore 72 1,173 11
1993 Herman Moore 61
1992 Herman Moore 51 966 4
