Rep Power: 42 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Teams you like besides your hometown team I was just thinking about certain teams that I sorta root for, but arent huge fans of. Obviously, my favorite team in every sport is New York's representative, but there are a few other teams that I have slight connections with Baseball: Before this year, it was the Montreal Expos. But the Expos exist no longer, so I have to find a new team. That new team is the Chicago Cubs. Lovable losers. An incredibly unintimidating mascot. One of the three classic baseball stadiums (Yankee Stadium and Fenway being the other two). The late Harry Carey singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame. They play most of their games during the day. In fact, they didnt even have lights in the stadium until about 15 years ago. Football: Buffalo Bills. A couple of times this year, I went to this bar in the city thats designated as a "Bills Backers Bar". On Sundays during the NFL season, the bar is full of Bills fans and they only play the Bills games on the TVs. They have an incredible food/drink special (all you can eat wings and all you can drink draft beer for 25 bucks), and I'm absolutely infatuated with one of the bartenders. I had so much fun going to this bar that I actually found myself cheering for the Bills over the course of the season. They have a party every year for the NFL Draft, and I cant wait to go there for that Basketball:Minnesota Timberwolves. For no real reason, except for the fact that I think KG is an absolutely incredible basketball player. He plays hard all the time, and he deserves better than the scumbags that management has placed around him, like Stephon Marbury and Latrell "help me feed my family" Sprewell. Plus, the fact that management fucked the team over when they made that secret deal with Joe Smith a few years ago that cost the team 5 consecutive first-round picks. That makes me want KG to succeed even more Hockey: Toronto Maple Leafs. An Original Six team, plus they currently have a rivalry with the Islanders (going back to that cheap-shot fest of a playoff series a few years ago), and as a Rangers fan, any enemy of the Islanders is a friend of mine.

Rep Power: 78 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My favorite teams are not from New England even though I've lived here my whole life...I like The Pittsburgh Penguins because of Super Mario and Jaromir, and Kevin Stevens back in the day, I like The Braves cuz they were always on TBS and I didn't like the sox or yanks, and I like the Niners in Football because I had an uncle who was a big Giants fan and also a dick about it, so when I was a kid I would root for The Niners against 'em and I just made them my fav. team from there. As far as other teams: Basketball: I like the Cavs (LEBRON), Sixers (Iverson), Bulls (cuz of their history and the new "Baby Bulls", and I liking the way the Suns play the game these days. Baseball: None, I hate them all. Football: I like the Eagles ( T.O. was a great niner and Mcnabb I like), The Panthers ( Just love their uniform), Titans (Huge Mcnair fan), and the Falcons (Vick is awesome). Hockey: Maple Leafs (Their history and dirty play), Flames (I like their uniforms and Jarome Iginla).

And Vick is just so exciting to watch. I really hope he gets some recievers, so I can stop hearing about how he cant throw the ball

Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah I don't put a lot of time into following basketball, but I always check boxscores on Cavs games to see how well LeBron did. The Heat too -- I really like Dwyane Wade. The Canucks are the only real hometown team I have to cheer for, although I would count the Blue Jays and Raptors as well. And Green Bay is my favourite football team. As for other teams I like, I've always been a big believer in the Indianapolis Colts... well maybe not believer, but I've like them ever since Jim Harbaugh almost took them to the Super Bowl that one year. Plus Marvin Harrison is my favourite athlete. I also like the Arizona Cardinals, also because of that year a while ago where they made the playoffs and won a game (against Dallas, maybe?).

As for Vick, The Falcons did go out and get Peerless Price but he hasn't done shit since Buffalo, Finneran is just ok, Michael Jenkins looks like he might be solid, but none of 'em are going to be what T.O. is to McNabb, Or Harrison with Manning, or Moss, with Culpeper, or McNair with Mason and Bennett or even Palmer has Chad Johnson and TJ Housmandzadeh... And I'm sick of people saying Brady has no name receivers: David Patten, Deion Branch, Troy Brown, David Givens, and Bethel Johnson. To me that is one hell of a group of guys and I didn't even mention Daniel Graham at the TE. Vick needs some help like every other great QB has.

I have always appreciated their ability to maintain a solid team despite payroll and fan support. Plus McGwire was my favorite player when I was a kid. NFL Detroit Lions. I always loved watching Barry Sanders play and now I just want to see them compete again. NBA I don't really follow the NBA that much, and I enjoy players more than teams. Players I like watching are Shaq, LeBron and Garnett. NHL Nobody.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | Ok NBA : I tune into Sky Sports to see Orlando play, I remember when Shaq was there when I was on holiday years ago and he was all over the press. Me and my Dad watched a few games at a bar and I've followed them ever since not hardcore but if i'm home and there on i'll watch. NHL : Chicago primarily because they were the best team on NHL 95 on the Game Gear ( remember that thing?) so i played as them and my undefeated with Roenick scoring every game will never be forgotten. NFL : I loved the Cowboys when they one everything, I have a Smith and an Aikman shirt hanging proubly next to my NY Mets Jersey. MBL : I don;t follow anyone really I just like watching the game being played. If I had to pick i'd be Boston really..i started following them after you guys started getting giddy at the end of the season. |
