The best part is that he still has to pitch in Yankee Stadium next year (unless his turn in the rotation doesnt come up)

Sox made the right choice by not giving Pedro the 4th year I'll be the first to admit.

However, The Sox do have to go out and get another pitcher. I hear Hudson is on the market.

Funny, I remember saying something similar to this in November.

Last report I read, it's down to Boston and Atlanta for Tim Hudson, although Oakland is waiting for the right package. Apparently they've liked Kevin Youkillis for a long time.

Youk?? You gotta be kiddin me...If thats all it takes to get Hudson, Beane should be shot!

Anyway, If the Sox got Hudson it would be Hudson-Schilling-Wakefield-Wells-Arrayo and the Yanks would have Mussina-Pavano-Brown-Vasquez-Wright.

It would really shift a pretty big edge towards the Sox and the Yanks would have to give in to the D-Backs to get Johnson. I can't believe the Yanks said no to giving the D-Backs Vazquez and Tom Gordon and picking up some of the money. What was the last big out Tom Gordon got anyway??

If it was just Youkillis, the deal would have been done a long time ago, calm down. Hudson's a free agent next year, so the A's are just seeing what they can get for him before they lose him for nothing.

As it stands now, I don't see how anyone in his right mind could pick Boston's rotation over the Yankees'. With Hudson it's a different story, but Boston's hopes are resting on three guys whose careers outdate my life.

Well yes, but I included Hudson in my statement. And for the long term, obviously the Sox don't have much outside of Bronson, but who really other than Mussina do the Yankees have right now who is a proven big game pitcher?

Wright is horrible. Same with Javy. Pavano should be good but who knows, and Brown is the most gutless man on the Yankees roster with maybe Giambi being the only one who can top him.

Schill is a legend. Wells has a tremendous track record, Wakefield pitches great against the Yanks and Bronson in relief last year in the ALCS came in and mowed people down.

Tom Gordon was one of the best set-up men in baseball until his arm gave out in October. He set a career-high for innings pitched, and he's like 35 or 36 years old. He was just overworked by the end of the year. Same thing happened to Paul Quantrill. Hell, even Rivera was overworked

Agreed. Wright had a good year for Atlanta last year, but I'd say chances are that was more of a fluke than anything else.

I told myself that I never wanted to see Kevin Brown in a Yankee uniform ever again, but I take that back. I want to see him pitch one more time in Yankee Stadium and get booed out of the stadium. Also, chances are El Duque or Jon Lieber will fill that 5th spot rather than Brown. Those two guys are both questionable because of injury histories, but are solid pitchers when healthy

The most frustrating thing about the Yankees last season was Vazquez. I mean, here's a guy who was a very good pitcher for Montreal, then came to New York and had 10 wins at the All-Star break. He's young, and he was on his way to taking the reins from Mussina as ace of the staff. Then, all of a sudden, he couldnt get anyone out in the second half, especially in the playoffs

So, basically, the Yankees have one proven big-name pitcher (Mussina), a young, solid pitcher who has pitched in high-pressure situations (Pavano), and 4 or 5 question marks

pavano is a joke. he can't even pitch a whole season without getting injured.
