The Olympics

Anyone watching these or care?

I'm addicted to it. It doesn't matter what event, I find it all very exciting. I just love international competitions, and this is obviously as big as it gets. I'm a little frustrated with the tape delay coverage, since everytime I flip on ESPN or log onto yahoo to check email, I keep accidently catching a glance at results that haven't televised yet.

What events do you enjoy?

As an Australian this is blasphemy to say, but the Olympics bore the shit out of me, and I doubt I'll watch any.

Get set for Australia to dominate, as per usual. I didn't help the athletes get there, nor will I support them now that they're there, but I'll be damned if I won't take pride and a sense of personal achievement in every gold they take home.

Ha this thread got me looking it up on the net, and Australia is 2nd to China in the Gold Medal tally, and tied with the USA and China for 1st in the overall medal tally (the bullshit tally the USA look to when they can't win any golds).

I feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Australia dominate? HAHA.

They took an early lead in the gold medal count because of some early swimming events. China picked up some early diving medals. Fear not, both countries will fall far behind the USA when all is said and done.

Yeah they always fall behind once the pool is over.

But on gold medals per capita we'll still destroy you.

The only time I really enjoy the summer games is late at night when I can just throw it on in the background. During the day it's usually on while I want other things to be on TV, or at least that's how I remember 2000, I don't watch a lot of television these days.

Just wait for the rowing and women's hurdles... Canada will score big.

I am also addicted. Yeah I'm also waiting for rowing and women's hurdles. Perdita better clean house. Apparently we also have a good syncronized swimming team. I'm hoping we win at least one medal....
