After being disgusted by Tim Wakefield's pitching performance yet again, I switched the channel to watch a team that can actually win championships, THE PATRIOTS! Let me just say that they were looking good. I know it's only the pre-season, but they're focused.

Haha, preseason means absolutely nothing. I believe RON DAYNE put on one of the most impressive on-field performances in a while tonight... RON DAYNE.

Okay that's unfair, he's trained exceptionally hard this offseason, but still.

Preseason means nothing as far as wins are concerned. But you can tell how the team will perform during the regular season.

Do you think that they totally change the way they play after the preseason? Are they going to start sucking and give up once it really starts to count? That's completely ridiculous. Don't be so arrogant. You aren't the king of sports. You're a moderator on a wrestling forum.

Absolutely.

If a team played the preseason they way they did the regular season, they would likely have a handful of key injuries come Week 1, and next to nothing left to surprise the opponent. Once the regular season starts, teams begin scheming, teams begin mixing up gameplans, and most of all, starters actually put forth their best efforts.

I just don't feel you can judge a team based on how well its third-stringers are able to perform the scout-team playbook.

Don't be so sensitive.

I agree with Freak, preseason means nada. BUT what you can say Hyde is.............


The Patriots are the defending world champs (again ) and added one of the better running backs in the game on a team that had Antwoin Smith last year.

People just are jealous of the Pats and their domination of the NFL. Take it with a grain of salt.

What's wrong with Ron Dayne? He was a stud at Wisconsin. I'm excited to see what he can do now that he's healthy.

I love how you left that part out when you quoted me. What I'm saying is that you don't know everything. Just because you mod the sports forum doesn't mean you are always right.

I'm excited too, he's lost 35-40 pounds this offseason, and is in great shape... but health was never his biggest problem. Until yesterday, Dayne had been one of the biggest bust running backs in recent memory. His style of running at Wisconsin never translated well into the NFL no matter how much weight he put on (he was up to 270 last year), and he hit the holes like he was afraid of what was on the other side. I bet Mister D would be able to agree with me, Ron Dayne has been a terrible running back thus far in his career.

Coughlin, his new coach, has said though that Dayne is gonna be a big part of the offense, and that explains why the guy has gone through such a physical and mental change. He never got along with Fassel, who even deactivated for all 16 games last season.

Hyde, it's not that I try to know everything, I just do -- either that, or it's a message board where debates would never happen if everyone was all agreeable and pussyfooting about their opinions... but probably the former.
