Ron Dayne is possibly my least favorite Giant of all time.
I have to say though I was going nuts watching him on Friday night, especially when he broke off that 67 yarder. seeing him outrun the KC DB's was nsurprising.
Quite frankly, I dont think he deserved to play last year. When you're getting paid millions of dollars a year you have an obligation to your team to keep yourself in shape, and he just didnt do that.
I sometimes go to the Giants message boards, and there's an Eagles fan who posts there that has an actual quote from Dayne in his sig that says "I dont do much in the offseason but eat and watch TV, so I get up to about 270 pounds".
But, on Friday he looked thinner than I can ever remember seeing him, so hopefully he'll be able to contribute. I know Coughlin isnt gonna put up with Tiki's fumbling ways.
Also, preseason may give you a general idea, but you have to remember that the firt teamers usually play a quarter or two at most. The final outcomes are decided by second, third, and sometimes even fourth stringers.
However, if Hyde has said something along the lines of "Corey Dillon was running extremely well and Tom Brady continued to be accurate and effective, whoch bodes well for the Patriots continued sucess in 2004 following their championship 2003 season", i think thats a fair statement.
Freak, I have a story that you'll get a kick out of. My roommate is a Buffalo Bills fan. One of those "my team can do no wrong, every player we sign is a Hall-of-Famer in the making, rah rah rah" type guys. He was going nuts last week because Willis McGahee scored 4 times in a scrimmage against the Browns. I was like "uh, I'm sorry to break it to you, but it was against possibly the worst team in the NFL, one of the TD's was from the 2 yeard line and the other three came when they were running goal line drills." and he STILL was rushing to defend McGahee and say that he's gonna be incredible. not to say that he wont be good, but i wouldnt get too worked up about it, just like how i'm not too worked up about Ron Dayne running wild on the 2nd-stringers for the NFL's worst defense last year
