Yes, exciting was what I meant to say. Tampa is one of the cities that can not handle an NHL team.
Much like the Panthers, and the Predators. I also find it odd that California has 3 teams. The Ducks, Kings, and Sharks.
And while were making predictions, Calgary in 6.
Hockey in California is nothing new at all. The Kings were a charter expansion franchise from the class of 1967, and the Bay Area was also home to the Oakland Seals for almost ten years, wouldn't be another 15 until the Sharks returned there. The TV market in South California is immense, if only it was tuned into the NHL...
Making it to the Cup changes nothing; look at Carolina, or even Florida for that matter.
Let's not forget Washington (1998?) and Chicago (1992). Hard to believe that Chicago got beat in the finals by Pittsburgh, and now both teams are pretty much the worst in the league. Maybe in ten years time, teams like Detroit, NJ, and Colorado will be at the bottom of the barrel.
After watching last night's Game 2 is anyone else starting to worry that Calgary may not come through for us? Either Tampa was damn good, or Calgary was damn bad. Hopefully, the Flames will take the next two home games. The rule of thumb (at least for me) is that if there's no chance for Chicago to win the cup then a canadian team really needs to win it.

Tampa Bay played great but the refs also really hurt the Flames since they were calling so many stupid penalties. Flames like a rougher game and with refs in love with their whistles they can't do that. The end of the game proved what would happen to Tampa if Flames were not having to hold back. I don't mean getting away with fights and stuff but just rougher play. Tampa is a very weak team.
To be brutally honest, I am having a really hard time cheering for Calgary in this series. I'm trying to look past it and support Canada and all that, but I keep finding myself hoping that at the very least Tampa keeps it close.
Part of this is due to Calgary having eliminated Vancouver, but mostly I just don't like Calgary's hockey club. Add to that the fact that Tampa Bay is easily the most exciting teams in hockey, and stacked with a bunch of players who I just love (Andreychuk, Richards, St. Louis, Boyle, Taylor, Sydor).
Seriously, at this point I think I would rather see my man Dave Andreychuk finally get a chance to hoist the Cup than "have it returned to it's rightful owner" -- Canada.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the reason Hogan's at the games is because his daughter is singing the anthems. I think the NHL is in a position similar to the one MLB was in during the early 90's. They need big U.S. markets such as L.A., New York, Boston and Chicago to do well because those are the biggest TV markets in the U.S. The Bruins, my favorite team, finally got off their ass with the Gonchar and Nylander trades but the other major American television markets need to field competitive teams for the NHL to be successful.
