I don't know what happened to the other thread we had about baseball so lets start a new one.


Rumors are running rampant here in Boston and apparently in Seattle. The latest rumor is a 3 team deal.

Seattle gets BH Kim and Johnny Damon
Kansas City gets Freddy Garcia
Boston gets Carlos Beltran


As much as I like Johnny Damon I would be more than happy to pack his bags for him if it meant getting a guy of Carlos Beltrans talents. He is a stud in KC. Imagine what he would do in the 5 spot for Boston once Nomar and Nixon come back.

Holy Cow. Watch out Yankees fans. Your days are numbered.

Beltran is way too versatile to bat in the 5th spot, he'd be a better 3 than Manny. Unless KC gets really desperate, I can't see this deal happening.

The theory would be Nixon 2, Nomar 3, Manny 4, Beltran 5.

Although maybe your right, he should swap out with Nomar.

NIXON at 2?

Come on now, he's a solid ballplayer, but no where near the hitter Beltran or Nomar are. I think Nomar would have to bat 2nd, with Beltran 3rd, Manny 4th and likely Ortiz at 5. Nixon is a guy much better suited to hit in the middle of the order, he's not fast or consistent enough to hit 2nd.

No way that deal happens. You going to have to give up a lot more than that to get Beltran.

That's was I think too DMW but.......Beltran is bolting KC at the end of this year regardless and Seattle is willing to give them a real decent starter if he can get his head screwed on straight.

I think all three parties involved are trying to keep the Yankees out of the hunt for Beltran. I suspect that maybe Boston would send a Double A player KC's way as well. The Sox have quite a few young talented minor leaguers that are very close to the majors.

If the deal happens, I fully expect that the Sox give up more than Damon and Kim. I also wouldnt be suprised if Theo Esptein gets Beltran to sign a 3 or 4 year deal before the trade can be completed.

As insane as that deal is, which it is, there's no way Beltran is BoSox bound, as long the Yankees don't grab him I'm fine but they won't be making a pitch.

But just Damon and Kim, doesn't add up. I would love to see Beltran in a Seattle Mariners garb however.

I think a lot of people would like to see him in their teams jersey. I know he'd be a great fit either before or after Barry Bonds in the Giants lineup.

Beltran definitely will not sign a long-term deal until the offseason, he knows his stock is going to go through the roof after this year. He's about as close to Vladimir Guerrero as there is in the game, minus the arm.
