Man, what a team that year.

I figured that this really had nothing to do with soccer and it was interesting enough to start is own thread.

Its too bad that for whatever reason Montreal has never really embraced baseball. It's really a Catch 22 for the management and the fans there. They don't want to support the team because the Expos ship everyone good out and the Expos don't keep anyone around because they don't generate enough revunue.

Its really a shitty situation up there. I personally believe they should have left Montreal years ago but that's just me.

But lets play pretend shall we.

I just took the 1994 Team and took some notable names off of it. Now keep in mind that no team in baseball retains all their players so lets take some 3 to 5 off just this list.

Look at some of the players that even 10 years later could have played some quality time in "North of the Border"

Pedro Martinez. (Hall of Fame perhaps)
John Wetteland (Former Ace Closer for some 7+ years)
Butch Henry ( Former servicable middle relief)
Darrin Fletcher ( Former All Star Catcher for the Blue Jays)
Will Cordero (Wife Beater, maybe its good they let him go)
Moises Alou (Talented Outfielder 35-100 guy)
Cliff Floyd (Still kicking around as a wicked decent OF'er)
Larry Walker (Real good a few years ago)
Marquis Grissom (Good OF)

Other players that come off the top of my head that have left the team in recent memory:

Randy Johnson, Bartolo Colon, Javier Vasquez, Vladdy Daddy.

Funny you should mention this Simon, I was just intrigued a few hours ago to look at the roster of the 94 version of my Expos again. I forgot some of the players that were there, Marquis Grissom, Fletcher, and Floyd.

This all has compelled me to go and pick up a baseball game for my PS2 right now, too add to my hockey-exclusive library of games, plus I had a shitty week and need to pamper myself. Although I'm not quite sure which game I want to pick up, please any help would be appreciated.

I dunno about baseball but I hope Arsenal go through the season unbeaten, then at least we've achieved something this season than just winning the Premiership, which our performances so far have more than deserved.

Perhaps you should continue with soccer talk in the soccer thread DDG. I don't even have a clue who the hell you are talking about. Nor do I care.

Freak, I will try to get more players to add to this list. I know there are many many more.

Something a lot of people don't remember about that 94 season was that Matt Williams, then of the Giants, was well on his way to breaking the single season homerun record, which of course was still 61 then.

It's really overwhelming when you think about the amount of quality baseball players coming through the Expos' system, as opposed to a team like the Red Sox or Yankees. Simon, a lot of those players you've named really aren't very good, but using the rest you could field a team full of all-stars.

I know they aren't that great. I was just pointing out that collectively all those players plus the likes of Pedro, RJ, Vasquez and Colon would have given them a legit chance for years.
