Acoin hit his 102.2 with a wooden stick, just like MacInnis always did. Good stuff; I am a fan of the wooden sticks.

Roenick did perfect on the accuracy shooting, going 4 for 4. This is the first time someone's done that since '96.

In other news, Mike Comrie was traded earlier today from the Flyers to Phoenix in exchange for Sean Burke and some other guys. Comrie didn't last long with the Flyers at all.

The new sticks have been tested and don't actually improve how hard of a shot can be taken. The most they say and not really proven, is that it may improve how fast they get the shot off, but it is not much of an improvement. They also break a lot easier.

Oh man, tell me about it. How many times have we seen a scoring chance ruined because one of these new sticks breaks at the worst possible time. If I were playing in the NHL I would be using wooden sticks, even if the new ones are lighter and so on. It's whatever you're use to, I guess. Besides, those new sticks are crazy expensive for breaking so easily.

They do break at ridiculously inopportune times, but give the sticks credit where they are due. I haven't played hockey in a number of years, but I handled one on ice a few weeks ago and they are fucking sweet. I can see them not improving your slap shot greatly, but the things can do wonders for a wrister or a snapshot. That includes making your shot a lot harder.

I think it's just stupid for parents to be buying these sticks for kids in minor hockey, unless of course the family is just loaded with money. I know I wouldn't want to be afraid of breaking my stick while I was handling the puck. Then again, if you have the money to replace the sticks, then by all means.

Hey Freak, what do you think about Don Cherry getting in hot water this past week? In case you never heard, it was on the Jan. 24 Coach's Corner where he said that only french and europeans wear visors. He rambled on at length about this; basically mocking them for wearing visors. The CBC took offense and now they have a 7-second delay planned for Cherry's next appearence on Hockey Night in Canada. I think what he said was no big deal and that CBC are really over-reacting to the whole thing.

I hadn't heard about this, but I do know that Don Cherry says a lot of stupid things, and this one doesn't sound at all unlike him. Obviously he's a great hockey personality, but he's also a really close-minded dick a lot of the time. I'm sure he's right about Europeans/French-Canadians wearing visors more often, but it's nothing he should be mocking them for. He's a traditionalist, plain and simple, and needs to realize that some evolution can help hockey (ie. European players, face visors).

The 7-second delay seems retarded though, since everyone knows what they're getting when they watch Coach's Corner.

Actually Roenick didn't go a perfect 4 for 4, he bobbled a pass and let it sit. The last 4 for 4 was 4 passes and for hits.

What? It's still a perfect 4 shots, 4 targets. Doesn't matter about the passes.

I watched the highlights and from what I saw most people don't shoot right off the pass, they get control of the puck first which is how it has to be done.
