Rutgers

Ok so with the upset of Rutgers over Louisville this question now remains, is Rutgers for real?? And is Rutgers a National Title Contender?? Now Seriously in my mind if you're undefeated that says something no matter what conference you hail from, whether it be the WAC, the MAC or C-USA, it doesn't matter, being undefeated is still being undefeated in my mind. But do you think that Rutgers could hold their own against Ohio State, Michigan, USC or any of the top SEC teams. Thoughts?

Rutgers still has to play West Virginia. If they can stop White/Slaton, the BCS is going to be under some serious scrutiny.

For the record, I don't see it happening.

I also believe that Rutgers will fall to West Virginia. The part about the BCS and being worthy is not even an issue for me. I understand that the teams in the SEC go through hell every year in their schedule but the large conference teams (Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, SEC, and ACC) refuse to put teams like Rutgers on the schedule, so it's not their fault.

Furthermore, these schedules were made 5 years in advance, Rutgers and the others had no idea that Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College would be joining the ACC.

I think if Rutgers goes undefeated they certainly deserve to be in the national title picture, but it remains to be seen.

Yes, I do think Rutgers is for real. Louisville has one of the better offenses in college football and they couldn't do anything in the 2nd half. Also, Rice is a stud running back.

Rutgers won't go unbeaten as honestly I just don't see them beating West Virginia. However, if they do manage to go unbeaten I don't think they'll jump ahead and they don't deserve it. Becaiuse you can't honestly say Rutgers should outrank the either one loss Buckeyes or Wolverines giving that that temas lone loss would be to a number one team.

But, why would Rutgers not deserve to play in the NC game? Nobody has proven that they can be beaten

With all due respect if they do go unbeaten they would have only beat two legit teams. I have Florida. USC, Michigan, OSU, all ahead of them due to the strength of schedule. If Rutgers goes unbeaten have them play Boise and make it a battle of unbeatens in a bowl game.

Yeah, but the problem is that you would have no idea if Rutgers would have remained unbeaten even with a harder schedule. They haven't lost. You can't just assume they would lose if they played a harder schedule.

Just because Rutgers has never been good in the past doesn't mean that people should discount what they do this year. Thats one of the biggest problems with not having a playoff system. If you're not in that elite group of like 20 schools, even if you're in a BCS conference nobody will take you serious. It's bullshit

I don't think anyone will have to worry about Rutgers going unbeaten. They have to face WVU in Morgantown on December 2.

Stop talkin' bout stayin' the course
You keep on beatin' that old dead horse
You know they lied about why we went to War
I can't take it no more

I agree with this. West Virginia will slaughter them.

fuck, for all we know Boise State could be the best team in the country. Maybe if football had a system like basketball, where EVERYBODY gets to prove themselves, we'd know for sure.

As it stands now, we might as well just whittle Div. 1-A football down to USC, Ohio St, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, and Nebraska
