I agree you have to bring your team to the Superbowl. And that just going to the playoffs every year will not cut it. And yes Tom Brady is good, and he has won some superbowls. But there has been a lot of great players over the years who have never won a championship. Manning will get his ring (prolly this year) but if all you have is saying he has not won the big one, so he is not the best is crazy in my mind. Manning is breaking every possible qb stat there is and then some. He will go down as the best qb of all time no doubt.
i don't neccessarily think they'd be a bad team without peyton would they be where they are right now? probably not. Yes Peyton is good, Yes Brady is good, but they are both good in their own rights. To Me you're comparing two different quarterbacks. maybe not comparing apples to oranges but like mangoes to oranges. Truth Be Told if i was starting a franchise and i could pick any QB in the NFL it would have to be Vince You... Peyton Manning. To me at least Peyton is QB you can build around. Now I am in no way saying that Tom Brady is a QB you can't build around. But I think Tom Brady and what he has done is somewhat part of the system. The Patriots do not have the flashiest players in the NFL. Why? They don't need them they build on Role Players. Whereas the Colts are built on the basis of playmakers and flashy players. That's my take.
And I don't think, you see the places inside me that I find you,
And I don't know, how we separate the lies here from the truth,
And I don't know, how we woke up one day somehow thought we knew,
Exactly what we're supposed to do.
So leave me, at the Roadside,
And hang me, up and out to dry,
Speaking of shit, Brady played like it last night. There were so many balls he had no business throwing, particularly all the interceptions. He was forcing the ball all night. The Patriots panicked when the Colts started completing passes all over the field and they got away from the running game even though they were running the ball great all night long. The play calling was shit too. When you're running the ball down their throats you stick with that and keep Manning off the field. They gave Manning too many opportunities and he took advantage of them.
I love Peyton as much as the next guy but they would not be an awful team without him.. They'd be probably 8-8, which is still a big improvement with him there seeing as they'll probably go 14-2.. He's great, he really is.. but lets not forget he has two hall of fame WRs to play with..
I'm easily the biggest Marvin Harrison fan of all-time, but you've got to be KIDDING.
Reggie Wayne, Hall of Fame? At 28, he's got ONE Pro Bowl season under his belt, and it was a season in which Peyton Manning threw 49 touchdown passes. Meanwhile, guys like Jimmy Smith and Rod Smith are hovering around top-10 all-time numbers, and even they aren't that likely to make the HOF. Michael Irvin didn't even make it last year.
Anyway. Peyton Manning is without a doubt the most complete football player of all-time, and soon enough he'll win a few rings and we can put this goddamn Brady-Manning business to rest.
Slim, you should be shot for saying that. Manning is a great QB, but let's just hold on for a second. One thing that makes a great QB (not to mention a candidate for "best ever") is that he doesn't crumble under the pressure of the playoffs. Manning needs to prove he can win the big one before being up for that sort of debate.
And NO, Reggie Wayne is definitely not a Hall of Famer. LOL!!!!
And by the way, Brady is one of the "best qbs ever". Case closed. Close this thread now ;)
