This is how my ballots would look for each league's MVP, CY Young Award, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the year. For hitters, I'll give batting average/OBP/Slugging Pct, OPS, HR, RBI, Runs, SB/caught stealing, VORP, and WARP3. For pitchers: innings pitched, wins-losses, saves, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, HR allowed, VORP. The last two are "sabermetric" stats. Top 10 for MVP, Top 3 for manager of the year, Top 5 for the rest. I gave extra consideration to playoff teams, and I took position into account, in this order: C, SS, CF, 2B, 3B, RF, LF, 1B, DH

AL MVP

1. Derek Jeter - .344/.417/.483, .900, 14, 97, 118, 34/5, 80.5, 12.1
2. Joe Mauer - .347/.429/.507, .936, 13, 84, 86, 8/3, 66.9, 10.6
3. David Ortiz - .287/.413/.636, 1.049, 54, 137, 115, 1/0, 76.8, 9.4
4. Justin Morneau - .321/.375/.559, .934, 34, 130, 97, 3/3, 52.0, 8.6
5. Johan Santana - 233.7, 19-6, 0, 2.77, 1.00, 245, 24, 79.6
6. Jermaine Dye - .315/.385/.622, 1.007, 44, 120, 103, 7/3, 64.6, 10.4
7. Travis Hafner - .308/.439/.659, 1.098, 42, 117, 100, 0/0, 79.7, 9.2
8. Carlos Guillen - .320, .400, .519, .919, 19, 85, 100, 20/9, 66.3, 8.2

10. Frank Thomas - .270/.381/.545, .926, 39, 114, 77, 0/0, 41.3, 5.8

I would move Morneau and Santana to #1 and #2 on MVP. Other than that I think your order is pretty good. I think its BS that some people don't think a a pitcher should win MVP...

Also, I think AL CY Young is definitely Santana but an arguement can be made for any of the following to be #2. Papelbon, Verlander, Weaver, Liriano, Wang, and Holliday. Crazy that I just put 4 rookies as possbile #2 for Cy Young...

Next Year's list for CY Young:
Schilling
Beckett
Wakefield
Papelbon
Foulke

Next year's list for Cy Young looks like this:

1. Santana
2. Everybody else

Johan is far and away the best pitcher in the game. He should have won the Cy Young Award last year, but undeserving Bartolo Colon won instead. That would have made this year his third in a row

I'll do the NL tomorrow. I got a little caught up at work. But I'll give you a preview:

NL MVP

1. Pujols
2. Ryan Howard

I agree with most of your picks Tom. I think Ryan Howard is going to win the NL MVP though.

Looking back at his stats, they are better than I thought, but still not better than the 10 guys I listed, in my opinion. He gets a positional boost, but knocked down because of his team's overall performance

As for Howard and Pujols, make note that Pujols had a higher average, OBP, slugging percentage, runs scored, stolen bases (7 to 0), and 130 less strikeouts. Pujols is also a fantastic fielder (baseballprospectus.com's Fielding Runs Above Replacement stat has Pujols at 25, compared to -5 for Howard), and his team made the playoffs. Plus, if you extrapolate Pujols's power numbers to account for the games he missed with that injury, they are VERY close to Howard's. In fact, he would be on pace to have more RBIs than Howard. Let's also take into account the fact that Citizens Bank Park in Philly is one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball

I think Pujols is the clear-cut choice.

I agree with all of that, but it seemed liek Howard hit a million home runs down the stretch when the Phillies were trying to get the wild card, and if they would have pitched to him in the last month a little more, he would have hit over 60..

Pujols team struggled down the stretch and almost made history when they almost had a historical colapse.

I think that was what was fresh in the minds of the voters and is why I think Howard will end up as the award winner.

I agree with Blade. Howard was HOT in September and Pujols and the Cards slid into the playoffs. Since all voting has to be done by the end of the regular season I think Howard gets the nod.

Interesting note-This was Howard's first full year and he hit almost 60 HR's but Pujols 4th and Pujols is actually younger.. If he stays healthy the #'s Albert could put up career-wise could be staggering!!

Question-If Phillies trade for Sheffield(rumor) and he hits BEHIND Howard how many HR's will he hit next year??
