IRVING, Texas -- New York Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington likely is out for the season after tearing his left Achilles tendon in the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

The Giants also lost defensive end Osi Umenyiora for the game with a strained hip. He went down late in the second quarter, returned for the start of the third but lasted only one play. He was helped back to the locker room, with the team saying he wouldn't return.
Arrington was hurt chasing down Dallas' Julius Jones on a running play. Arrington ended up on the turf in obvious pain, with doctors calling for a motorized cart to get him to the locker room.
Arrington was among the reasons the Giants took a 12-7 halftime lead, having sacked Dallas quarterback Drew Bledsoe in the end zone for a safety in the first quarter. It was one of four sacks for New York to that point; Umenyiora had one, too.
Arrington is in his first season with New York after playing six years for Washington. The safety was his first sack with the Giants.
The Giants also played the second half without cornerback Frank Walker, who strained a hamstring.
it sucks, he was just starting to come around too. He was a total non-factor in the first three games, but had started making plays the last three weeks. With the injury to Carlos Emmons, it leaves our LB corps as:
Reggie Torbor - Antonio Pierce - Brandon Short
Adequate, but leaving a little to be desired. It's a good thing the D-line is playing out of their minds...
