Re: NFL off season thread (non playoff teams)

Cris Carter isn't in because it's the media who votes, and CC was NEVER kind to the media in his early years, and lets face it, with the media, grudges die hard.

Willie Roaf and Dawson were either the best, or in the discussion for best at their position for more than half of their careers. They may not have had the accolades and attention guys like Orlando Pace and Bruce Matthews got, but they were both excellent linemen in their time.

Well if you're going down that road, perhaps that's why Parcells was snubbed as well.

Yeah, but let's face it, Carter's earlier years were worse than anything we've ever seen from another player since. He was downright nasty. Parcells was just a coach, and used coach speak.

Report: Plaxico wants to sign with Eagles

After a pedestrian return season with the New York Jets, Plaxico Burress is apparently looking for a new team -- and guess who's atop the wide receiver's wish list.

    The Eagles.

The former Giant who spent nearly two years in jail on a gun charge, told NBC10's Howard Eskin that he wants to play for the Eagles.

Tweeted Eskin at 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday:

"Saw and talked to Plaxico Burress at Super Bowl and told me he wants to play for Eagles. Badly!"

Burress becomes a free agent on March 13. He caught 45 balls for 612 yards with eight touchdowns last season, but three of those scores were lumped in a Week 7 win over the Chargers.

Burress' one-year deal with the Jets paid him a little more than $3 million.

Plaxico wants to sign with the birds again, I expect the Eagles to least speak to him, 8 Tds for the Eagles that would be perfect.I wouldn't be happy if they didn't resign DeSean Jackson, and signed him.I'm pretty sure he wouldn't sign if Jackson left.I think the Eagles didn't sign him, due to the risk of the age, and seeing how much he has in the tank.Still upgrading the offense, they need to fix that damn defense from the Linebackers backwards..

Any guesses as to where peyton will end up? Washington? Miami? Denver? Jacksonville? New york (jets)? Indy (lol)? If i had to guess, i'd say he retire as a colt, but i think he still wants to play.

Meh. I dont know if he'd wanna go to washington though. I don't think he'd wanna face his brother twice a year. Not that he's intimidated or anything but just cause he'd rather separate himself. I honestly could see him in Miami or New York (Jets). Rex ryan realizes sanchez isn't a great qb and the jets have punted money for veterans alot. They know the QB position is the most important. As for Miami, I don't see Stephen Ross (the owner) willing to spend 20 million or so a year for a qb. I think he'd be OK with matt moore or if we get matt flynn. I think he'll give peyton a thought before he gets outbid by another team.

    Giants Release Brandon Jacobs

The free agency market has just got more interesting, sort of.

The New York Giants have released Brandon Jacobs after the team and the running back were unable to come to terms on a restructured deal.

The team wanted to reduce Jacobs' salary to create more cap flexibility. Jacobs said he was open to the idea as long as it was fair.

But both sides could not come to an agreement, as the Newark Star-Ledger first reported. Jacobs was due a $500,000 roster bonus in March to go along with the $4.4 million he was due this season.

With more teams wanting a two running back tandem on the rosters, he will find a job.The Eagles always needed a strong back like Jacobs, he would fit there perfectly. With the speed McCoy,and the hammer with Jacobs, could work, but not sure Eagles won't be paid too much to get him.
