    Re: BOWL SEASON

    To me, there's really no argument that can be made for Bama to be in the BCS Championship Game. If you been reading the college football threads, you may know that I am one of the few people maybe even left on the world that still somewhat favors the BCS Bowl system, if Bama gets in I will lose all my faith in it. Let's just take a brief look at both teams:

    Alabama, 11-1 record with their one loss going to the #1 team in Tuscaloosa. They also played the #1 LSU at home and lost by a field goal 9-6. Bama has 3 wins against winning teams and 2 wins against currently ranked teams.

    Oklahoma State, 11-1 record, with their one loss being at Iowa St. 7 wins against winning teams and 5 wins against ranked teams. OKST one loss was mere hours after they found out about that horrible plane crash.

    If Alabama's loss to LSU was at LSU than I believe you could make an argument for a rematch, but it wasn't and OKST has just earned it more than Alabama has. OKST had a much tougher schedule and when it came to them not only needing to beat OU they needed to blow them out and they did that.

    Boise State won't be in a BCS Bowl (they should be but the won't be) and Alabama will be the number two team. Kind of hard to win your own conference when the best team in the country is in the same conference. All the time in high school football the two top teams from the same Region end up playing in the State Championship. Yeah, OK ST won the Big XII but the conference was no where near as strong as it was in recent years.

    OK St beat 7 teams with winning records.

    Alabama beat 3.

    College Football != High School.

    And if the best team in your conference already beat you, why not let a team from another conference try?

    In 2006, Florida jumped idle Michigan, by beating #15 Arkansas, this year, I see no reason why Oklahoma State can't jump Alabama after Alabama sat idle and OKST beat #9 Oklahoma.

    The reality is, I bet if OSU hadn't tragically lost school personnel in a plane crash prior to the Iowa State game, they'd be undefeated. While it still counts as an L on the scoresheet, it's something that can still be taken into consideration. Plus Bama had it's shot, and blew it, AT HOME. College Football would become the laughingstock of major sports if LSU played Bama, it'd be about as serious as BASEketball.

    Also, for me, it's a toss up between TCU or Boise State for that bid, I just have a soft spot for Boise State, and I'd rather see Big Blue lose to Boise than TCU.

    There was a cool thing on CBSSports yesterday where you could pick a team (unnamed) from a list of statistics. Basically if you looked at the W20 and W40, the opposing team Win % and average Sagarin Ranking of each team, one stood out among all the others as the clear cut #2 team in the country, and that team was OK State. I agree that it will pretty much be a joke if LSU/Alabama play again, though I'd still watch. I think OK State deserves a shot though, they have had a better season (according to those stats) than Alabama anyway.

    Big Blue will ROLL over either one! Especially after beating OSU they will be motivated and ready to get some. Yeah, Boise should go but its more than likely going to be TCU since they won the WAC. Man, I'm so ready for Urban Myer lead OSU to come into Ann Arbor and get rattled every year.

    Anyway, only a small group of fans would get pissed about LSU and BAMA going at it one more time. However, I wouldn't be against OKST getting the nod to get beat by at least three scores.

    I believe that Oklahoma State deserve to play LSU for the championship. It would be unfair and BS if they don't. I bet nobody could beat Oklahoma State in that game last night for the way they dominated against a good Oklahoma team, it amazes me. A powerful offense of OK State versus a stout defense of LSU would be a helluva matchup, January 9.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

    OKST defense has been the main criticism of that team, and last night they shut down a pretty good offense and QB in Oklahoma and Landry Jones. Let's not forget OU was ranked pretty high all season, and still in the BSC Championship picture until a few weeks ago. And they made a outside Heisman Candidate and very good QB in Landry Jones look foolish all that game. And I agree with out that tragic plane crash, I think OKST goes on undefeated and this isn't even a question at all.
