This is now being reported as a suicide attempt. They said they found the pain pill bottle empty at his house, and he reportedly said he was trying to harm himself.

Terrell Owens Hospitalized

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens was hospitalized at Baylor Medical Center's emergency room after pain medication reportedly made him sick, sources told FOX 4's Lynn Kawano.

Sources told FOX 4 that Dallas Fire-Rescue crews responded to a call Tuesday night from Owens' home near Deep Ellum in which the player reported feeling sick after taking pain medication.

It was not clear at 5 a.m. Wednesday if Owens had been released from Baylor. FOX 4 tried contacting Owens' publicist by cell phone, but she did not answer or return the call.

Owens appeared on Good Day Tuesday morning to talk about the National Alliance to End Abuse organization's efforts to stop dating and family violence. He also spoke to students at two Dallas-area high schools later Tuesday.

The wide receiver also attended practice Tuesday afternoon despite being sidelined following surgery for a broken finger injury he suffered during the Sept. 17 game against the Washington Redskins.

Owens had a plate surgically placed in his hand and sources close to Owens said that he had become sick before from taking the pain medication prescribed to him after the surgery.

WFAA-TV in Dallas is reporting that Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens attempted to commit suicide Tuesday night.

According to a Dallas Police report obtained by the station, Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills.

WFAA says the report states a woman companion said that she observed Owens putting two pills in his mouth. The woman said the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18 and -- until Tuesday -- Owens had taken only five pills. The police report said Owens was asked if he had taken the rest of the prescription; Owens said, "Yes."

He's been in dire need of professional help for a long time. It's been kind of obvious that he needs therapy.

Maybe now he will or someone will make sure that he gets to talk to someone.

Could it be that he just had an alergic reaction? That's what they were saying on Mike & Mike this morning.

When the police asked him if he was trying to harm himself he said yes.

Plus he took 5 pills...

I doubt it was an allergic reaction.

Joe. I am reading that he had only taken 5 prior to last night and finished the bottle that had 40 in it, therefore he consumed 35 last night.

Yikes.

(On a side note. I have friends who have popped 5 at once, and that was before an evening of drinking.

(didnt say it was smart, but 5 wouldnt kill most people especially someone as in shape as TO)

Good point...I must have misread the report I was reading.

Either way he obviously was meaning to do some damage to himself.

There's some deep rooted issues here that I think will emerge over the next few days.

I guarntee there's more to the story then we're aware of.

He had a press conference. Said that he did take pain medication and said it was an alergic reaction. He said his publicist got confused because she found an empty bottle. He said that when he answered the police he was totally out of it. He said if he really took 35 pills he probably wouldn't be here with us.

And btw, he said he's not depressed about anything. So with that, he hopes to play on Sunday and I hope we get an end zone dance.
