Should the Giants part ways with Shockey?

If you don't know the story, I added a link, but anyway, Shockey basically blasted the coaching staff on how little they were prepared to play Seattle. My favorite part was when he emphasized the word "outcoached" and said "You can write that down."

This guys blows up all the time, he was showing up Manning on the field in the same game, why can't they get rid of him? He's VERY overrated by the media and even some of the fans. The guy talks like he's Gates or Gonzalez.

The Eagles got rid of Owens. Is it time for the G-Men to do the same with Shockey?

He's nowhere near on T.O. level, but yes, even i'm getting a little tired of him. Still, I think it would be a rash decision to just dump him. He is a very good TE, and from a business standpoint, he's very popular, sells a ton of jerseys, and stuff like that

He just needs to know when to shut his mouth. He plays hard on every down and HATES to lose. He is not a team cancer or a locker room problem, at least not anywhere near TO status..

I think the play he was screaming about during the game was more about him being held by the defense and not Manning.. He was just pissed overall.. At the end of the game even though the score was somewhat close, the G-men got their arse handed to them and he was frustrated..

My take on Shockey overall.... I love the guy! I love his attitude, his wanting to kick someone's ass on every play, the passion, Everything he brings.. I think he just needs to shut his mouth sometimes OFF the field.. And to stay healthy for a whole season at least once..

I find it hilarious how everyone on here is sticking up for him, but they bash a guy like Owens who really only had a problem with McNabb.

You want to call it a different situation? fine.. but here's another difference. Owens is by far a more effective player then Shockey. Anyone want to compare their abilities? It's not close.

What I'm saying is, Shockey isn't WORTH the trouble. This won't be the last time he runs his mouth and we all know it.

Shockey isn't good enough to cause issues like he does. Owens is an asshole, but the Niners had to break up that team anyway. Didn't you notice, they didn't keep Owens or Garcia?

The Cowboys couldn't have been too pissed off, they did take Owens.

Owens will be gone from Dallas before the end of the season or end of the season at the latest.

He is seriously a major asshole.

Shockey is a loudmouth with a trigger but at least hes trying to win games for the team....Owens is only out for making himself more famous.

I believe that is the difference....working as a unit.

But to answer your question I think the Giants need to cut him loose if they're going to stay with this coaching staff. The way things are going they do not mix well together unless Shockey calms his temper and his mouth.

That's a misconception about Owens though. He always plays hard. He's an X-factor on a team. The Niners were nothing without him, and look at the Eagles. Sure they won games before he got there but the only reason the Super Bowl was close w/ the Pats was because of Owens playing like a man possesed on a bad leg.

Now people are picking the Cowboys to win this division or make the playoffs and again, it's because of his ability.
