Red Sox trades going well

Did anyone notice the box score from David Wells's first start with SD?

Wellsy and Meredith pitched eight of the innings.

Bard and David Roberts accounted for all of the RBI and Manny Alexander (!) scored one of the two runs.

Plus, Rudy Seanez got the win for SD last night!

In Theo we trust...

That is not surprising. The national league hitters are not as good in the american league so pitchers usually do better in that league. I'd rather have some other team have seanez. too bad if the red sox couldn't just get rid of foulke and tavarez then they'd be all set

I forgot to add afew:

Freddy Sanchez: Either leading or near lead in batting avg in NL
Anibel Sanchez & Hanley Rameriz carrying Florida to a possible wildcard
Rent-A-Wreck, Nomar, Orlando Cabrera all having good seasons and we have AGON and Cora...
If you don't already have MArte in keeper fantasy leagues get him now he will be next year's stud..

This is a joke right?

Rudy Seanez freaking BLOWS. Quite possibly the worst pitcher the Red Sox have ever had. Simply freaking awful.

The Red Sox are not making the playoffs this year, right? So why hold onto a guy that is just going to retire at the end of the year when you can get a very decent catching prospect.

David Roberts would be a nice guy off the bench but they really didnt have a place for him in the offseason and was moved at his request.

This had to have been a thread to get Red Sox fans up in arms huh? haha

I respect your opinions, but I think you are just a Yankees fan.

Theo didnt make the Beckett/Lowell for Ramirez/Sanchez deal.

Freddy Sanchez was traded 3 years ago and JUST NOW showed signs of being half way decent.

Nomar didnt want to be in Boston anymore. Cabrera had to leave because Manny was fucking his wife. haha.

Andy Marte was traded out of the Atlanta organization for a reason. They never pass up on good young talent unless they think the player will divebomb.

Did you forget to mention the David Ortiz, Curt Schilling pickups? Or did you just conviently forget to leave that out of your argument?

Well, me and a few boyz from down here behind enemy lines have been bitchin for weeks and that was from our daily e-mail.. I'm trying to get them to sign up but we'll see..

BUT as much as the Front office talks about not giving up the future, if you look at the past 3 years they've done alot of that. They also get hung up on guys and then trade them after 1 year if they dn't pan out. Other teams see this trend and have been raping the Sox since 2004...

Prediction:

We overpay for Lugo, Trade Coco, and trade to get Marte back or something like that... I know this sounds crazy but we need the man who put the heart of the 2004 team together back.. That's right folks Mr. Dan Duquette...

You got me, a Yankee fanin Disguise.. If you look at THEO history his only good signing was Curt Schilling and he got lucky with Ortiz.. I think he was 50/50 at the time he signed Ortiz and the other guy he wanted to sign is dead and burried I think..

As for Beckett?? Why the extension, when he hasn't proved anything except that he can give up 3 hrs a game!!!

wait, whats this about Manny banging Cabrera's wife?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Anyway, on a serious note, it does seem as if the Red Sox have been much less successful with their moves in recent times, and I really don't have an explanation.

As poorly as Beckett has pitched this year, he does have excellent "stuff", and may be great down the road. One thing I've heard about him is that he's stubborn and proud, and feels like he can just keep blowing his fastball past guys. You can get away with that when you're an NL pitcher in a pitcher's park, but in Boston, facing the likes of Vlad, Tejada, Thome, Konerko, A-Rod, Giambi, etc., that just doesn't fly. However, he's only 26 years old (born exactly 6 days after me, actually...) and might have the time to "get it".

As for the people they gave up for him, well...prospects are just that: prospects. They might be good, they might suck. But, let's say you think Hanley Ramirez will be a star, you kinda have to value him somewhere below where you would value an established major league star, since you are basing your assessment on potential, rather than results.

Sometimes moves just don't work out, and sometimes they work in bunches (as they did with Schilling and Ortiz).
