We all have different opinions on what sport is the best and what sports aren't good at all and it definitely differs from country to country. Most Brits clearly love Football (Soccer) where as most Americans hate it and it's most of the same in the opposite order when it comes to American Football.
There will however be exceptions like me for example, I do love Football (Soccer) but my main sport is Rugby League and what makes it the best in the world for me is how the game is rough full contact sport and at the same time is a very fast paced sport. The game keeps moving at all times unless there is a serious injury and when it compares to other contact sports such as American Football, simply put, it doesn't stop every few seconds.
So, what makes your favourite sport the best in the world?
Also, I had to do a redirect for the thread so that it is in both sports section.

Do we really need to have this discussion? Isn't going to be the same as it always is where someone makes fun of anothers favorite and then plays up their favorite? The same boring monotonous posts one after another, can't wait for this thread to take off. Yawn.
Either way Hockey, its fast paced, and takes a ton of physical skill.

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Just for the pity. I'll also say Hockey. It doesn't get more no holds barred, intense, dramatic, and controversial than hockey. It will always be the butt of a joke among people who oppose the sport, but this time when people go back and forth, you are actually on the edge of your seat surrounded by the most intense and awesome fans in the world.

I would have to say football. College football to be more specific.
Nothing can really match the excitement of actually being at a game. The crowd cheering, the bands playing, it creates a great atmosphere.

I'm going with Talent and Toaster. Hockey. Nothing compares to going to a hockey game, the home team scoring and high fiving everyone around you. It's a blast. The intensity of the players, the awesome goals, the great saves, the fights, it's all an awesome experience. Even watching a hockey game on TV is intense. You're pretty much doing everything you'd be doing at a game. Yelling, screaming, cheering, nail biting. It's excellent.

NFL because it's the only league with any thing close to parity among the teams.
I'd definitely argue that the NHL is close parity-wise. There are shitty teams that don't spend to the cap, sure, but those exist in football too. I'd put the leagues about even in that regard, actually.
I'll have to agree with hockey, with football coming in a close second to me.
The UKers have brought up a slight against our football (and I agree) in that it's played a bit too slow. They have one play, then get 40 seconds to reset and strategize before running another play. I can see that side of the argument, and sometimes that bugs me too...however, one could argue back that it makes the game more strategic.
With the NHL, it's non-stop action. It's hard hitting (unlike Basketball..yawn), fast paced, keeps your attention..and some of the athletes on the ice are just incredible. I've been ice skating before, and I've played roller hockey before, but putting the two together isn't as easy as it looks. Nothing beats playoff hockey, in my opinion. The best teams are out there and every goal matters.
Yes, it probably helps that the Red Wings are my hometown team.
