Rasheed Wallace will join the Celtics next season, multiple media outlets in Boston reported on Sunday.
The team sent managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, team president Danny Ainge, coach Doc Rivers and All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to woo the Pistons forward last week, the the Boston Globe reported.
"Rasheed took the first meeting very well and was impressed once it became clear we were talking about the same financial situation," Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, said, according to the Boston Herald. "He obviously likes the team and the meeting was very effective."
According to the Globe, Wallace will receive a two-year deal for the mid-level exception, believed to be for around $5.6 million per season when the league sets the salary cap next week. The number will be released July 8, the earliest date that teams can officially sign free agents or consummate trades.
Wallace averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season for a Pistons team that was swept by the Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs. For his 15-year career, Wallace has averaged 15 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest.
Things just got douchier in Boston ^_^

So what do you guys think of the Kobe/Ron combination in LA? I'm hearing all kinds of shit that people think they won't be able to co-exist, but I think otherwise. Kobe will accept a player of Artest's caliber and it's an upgrade to Ariza. I loved Ariza but Artest is no doubt a better overall player right now. So I'm happy with how the team will look this next year and we will repeat.

I'm not essentic about Rash joing the Celtics as a Celtic's fan my self, but it will let Garnett be a permanent Center, putting a great rebounder in Wallace at PF. Also, a solid line-up in Garnett, Wallace, Pierce, Allen, Rondo.

I think the Ron Artest move is great for LA. While Ariza has potential to get better, Artest still plays at an all-star level. And for a team that is trying to win now, it was an amazing acquisition for them. Odom will be on his way back in due time as well. If I were a Lakers fan, I would be ecstatic.
I would also be ecstatic if I were a Celtics fan. Adding Rasheed to a loaded team can only make it better. I just wonder if Rasheed will start and move Perkins to the bench. I figure that would be the case, but you never know due to the defense that Perkins plays.
(Still waiting for my 76ers to do something)

I doubt Perkins gets the boot for Wallace, everything I've heard is him off the bench which is scarier for me, where the hell do you great a break from KG and Wallace during a game?

he Dallas Mavericks, after striking verbal agreements over the past few days to retain Jason Kidd and sign restricted free agent Marcin Gortat to an offer sheet, have identified their latest target: Shawn Marion.
Marion
The Mavericks and Toronto Raptors, according to NBA front-office sources, are discussing a sign-and-trade deal that would bring Marion to Dallas.
Although no trade appeared imminent Monday night, Dallas has emerged as perhaps the best option for Marion. He appeared to be heading for a new deal with the Raptors when Toronto succeeded in wooing Hedo Turkoglu away from the Portland Trail Blazers with an 11th-hour bid on Friday after Turkoglu had committed to the Blazers.
If the Mavericks and Raptors can strike a deal -- with a third team potentially needed to help make the salary-cap math work -- sources say that former All-Star guard Jerry Stackhouse will almost certainly be headed to the Raptors in the exchange. Stackhouse is scheduled to earn $7 million next season at age 34, but only $2 million of his salary is guaranteed.
Without a sign-and-trade, Marion's options for landing a contract that starts above the projected mid-level exception of $5.8 million next season would appear to be exhausted, with neither Portland nor Oklahoma City -- teams that still have cap space to burn -- expected to make him an offer.
In BC I trust, I'd be amazed if he could pull off Hedo and still have the MLE

It's a move that focuses more on the next three years more than it does the future, Artest is much older(and therefore much more grizzled) but Ariza still hasn't hit his full potential and is only 24. So Artest is an upgrade, but for how long, who knows? And yeah, the Lakeshow look a helluva lot scarier than last year

Why? If I was a Celts fan I'd be f'n pumped to have Wallace spelling Perk and KG. I wouldn't be too happy about losing Baby(it looks like they will as they near the 90 mil mark), but considering this team is obviously built more short term than long term, I see no issue with it.

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Heard that if a third team is found and the Raps send off Marion for Stackhouse, Stackhouse will be bought out of his contract. Anyone know if thats true? I kinda wanted to see Stackhouse in a Raps uni To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Pretty much, as it stands right now Stack being bought out would be one of the things that need to happen for cap space (or the MLE?) to sign back ups like Kleiza, Delfino and parker.
In any case, the Mavs also have to take Marcus Banks off there hands if they want Marion apparently.
