Not really... at this point Shaq's not much more than a big body for LeBron to feed every now and then, going up against the east Shaq was largely ineffective(which was one thing that ultimately led to his subsequent trade to the West). The best thing going for Cleveland right now is that they should be able to keep Z and Shaq healthy by rotating them, but neither player is anywhere near their prime, or height of their effectiveness. This trade seems more for show, and marketing than it does for basketball. In fact, I'd say Cleveland management is thinking by acquiring a name rather than a player that will directly influence the ability of LeBron(say, Michael Redd or Ray Allen whom would perfectly compliment LeBron as a players who can create their own shots) that LeBron will be more apt to stay in Cleveland after his contract expires.
It's funny how daft Cleveland management is at building a team.

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
All they gave up Sasha and Ben Wallace, so I'd call it a success. Shaq played decently enough last year and if he can play up to that quality, or even remotely near it, it will give us some sort of inside game. I mean you have to remember, the Cavs have never had an inside force while LeBron's been here. Not a single one. While it's mainly a move to please LeBron by bringing over one of his favorite players from when he was a kid, I think Shaq will be more than just a media attraction. He could help get us to the finals, I think.
It's ok. They are just trying to appease LeBron and this is apparently the best they could do.
2010 will see LeBron sign with the Celtics to play with KG and PP. haha. (I can dream can't I?)
I'd love to see Lebron sign with the Hornets but that's not happening with their money issues and if anything, If Lebron leaves Cleveland, He's heading to New York along with Chris Bosh if they can acquire Darko Milichich from Memphis for the useless Q-Rich.

Why in the world would he go to a WORSE team like the Knicks? Seriously....
If LeBron leaves Cleveland he will sign with a contender. Otherwise he may as well stay with Cleveland. There is no reason financially for him to go to say New York or California. Maybe in 1985 NYC would be a good reason to go, but he is already the biggest star in the NBA. Going to NYC would not help his publicity. He is his own publicity.
If anything he will want to secure his legacy. I see it being L.A., Boston, Chicago, but at the end of the day I think he will remain in Cleveland.
It just makes zero sense for him to start all over with a new team that hasn't been able to get out of the gutter for almost 20 years.
I have to agree with DD, that it doesn't make sense, but my Cleveland pessimism makes me think he'll leave. I can't help but think like that. It's been singed into my brain after all these years of living in North East Ohio.

Because the NBA needs a city like New York to be popular again to get the NBA out of this rut. A populus like New York that has been salavating to get Lebron here for the last 2-3 years now has been waiting for this chance to get Lebron. Lebron has done everything he could in Cleveland except with a Championship and DD, with the way the Knicks have been shaving payroll with expiring contracts, with Lebron on the same court as David Lee one of the top Double Double Guys in the NBA along with Wilson Chandler and Galinari and a PG to come in the future with tonight's draft. Donnie Walsh wants the Knicks to succede and he is doing everything in his power to get that team to be a force. Lebron in New York wouldn't make too much sense for him not to sign with the Knicks. New York has mucho mucho Green to go to the Cap Limit with not one but 2 stars which is why they will probably grab Lebron and Chris Bosh. A Lineup of Bosh, David Lee, Lebron James, Danilo Gallinari and tonight's Point Guard looks awfully good to me in 2010 and I'm not a Knicks fan.
