I don't see any reason why the Lakeshow isn't the best team, and I'm one of the farthest things from a Laker fan you'll find. They just added Ron Artest, whom in both of the last two years made his teams super over achieve while he was on the court, and has already stated(as well as Kobe) that he (and Kobe) have an amicable relationship. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work there. Artest is a better defender, and better offensively than Ariza, the only thing you lost with Ariza is that potential(because, in 2-3 years, Ariza could be better than Artest), but you also gained a secondary leader, and a second dose of tenacity, and drive that few other teams have. The Spurs are a close second and are having a shockingly quiet amazing off-season(Jefferson, Haislip, McDyess), but I wanna see how having a true wing player(for the first time ever it seems) will effect the way the offense runs in San Antonio. I'd put the Celtics third, but it's mostly because, I'm not a fan of their Rasheed only bench if Big Baby leaves, not so sure Gabe Pruitt is the guy I want spelling Rondo or Allen.

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Lakers haven't done anything that would have me consider them the best team in the NBA. They're in the discussion, but they caught a lot of lucky breaks and now they've altered their team chemistry.
Love what the Spurs are doing.
They may luck out with Odom too cause no one else is offering anything for him.
Lakers are shaping up to be a pretty good team though, they'll be in there in the end. Spurs making great moves though. That team is looking good.

The Lakers bench isn't good either unless you count Odom who really isn't a bench player with as many minutes as he plays. There aren't any 'great' teams in this league. It's all about the starting five and maybe another piece here or there making a contribution and with that.. if the Celtics are healthy, the Lakers still cannot match up with them. Gasol can be taken away by Perkins or Garnett (as he was in '08) and he doesn't make up for it on the defensive end. Odom is in and out of games, Artest is hot/cold and when he gets in one of those grooves where he starts chucking up horrible shots hes much more of a detriment to the offense than Ariza ever was. Artest's defense is starting to be really overrated as well. He's not a great on-ball defender he once was. The difference between him and Ariza isn't as drastic as some people are making it out to be. If they were to match up with the Celtics again.. you're asking Kobe to do way too much on offense whereas Pierce, Rondo, and Allen can share the load and if Wallace is motivated (which he will be on this team) he can takeover games at times... though not nearly as effective as he once was.
I'd still love Boston in a rematch.. but it all comes down to KG's health.

Your Laker hate-on has got to the point where I'm actually laughing out loud.
Anyways, I'm throwing my hat in the spurs bandwagon to win this years finals. We'll see how Boston plays out this year though, the geriatric club could have the wheels fall if any one of there big 3 gets hurt. Cleveland/Spurs finals, with the Raptors making the second round, sounds about right to me.

You also didn't take into account a healthy Bynum, assume he stays healthy all year and will therefore improve you are facing a much different Laker team than you did in 08.

I'm sooo tired of this Bynum talk from Laker fans. I'm not calling you out or anything but since when does he even matter..? Lets see..
Bynum was injured in '08 = non-factor
Bynum was back for the playoffs in '09 = non-factor
He's had a few good games in his career.. but who cares? He's never been healthy, he's never shown that he can stay healthy, he's always in foul trouble, he's never did anything against a quality front line..
