The Score’s Steve Ludzik has learned that the Anaheim Ducks have traded defenseman Chris Pronger to the Los Angeles Kings for D Jack Johnson and the 5th overall pick in the upcoming draft.
Interesting trade for both teams. We saw how much better Edmonton and Anaheim were with Pronger on board, and with the Kings young core, Pronger is sure to bring needed stability and presence to the blue line. However, it’s a hefty price for the Kings to pay, giving up the fifth pick, and a former third overall pick in Johnson. The Ducks now have a core of Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan, Whitney and Johnson—all of whom are 26 or younger. Scary! Plus, there will still be some great prospects left on the board at number five, which will only add to their outstanding group of young talent.

If the Kings can solve their goaltending woes (Bernier might not be ready yet), that'll be one very good-looking squad for years to come. Even if Pronger plays only two or three more seasons, you can't even quantify how much he'll mean to the development of their young D-men: Doughty, Hickey, Quincey, Teubert, et al.
I personally really like it for both teams, leaning obviously more for the Ducks .. should will be an even more fun team to watch next season !!
I tend to agree with this one. The trade should benefit both teams, as Pronger's leadership should benefit the Kings and Johnson's youth will be more important to the Ducks.
I'm not as high on Johnson as some others are, and his personality means he could easily become the kind of guy who does more harm than good to a team, but that 5th overall pick is a really nice coup for the Ducks. There should be some very good prospects there, ie. Schenn, Cowen, Kane, Paajarvi-Svenson, etc.
I looooooove the trade, Pronger brought a lot of toughness to the team (maybe a little to tough) but, getting a younger core and a extra pick for him is great value. Hopefully its enough to push them back over the hump in the playoffs over the next two years or so.

the trade hasn't been confirmed yet... i don't think it's gonna happen.
the kings should hold onto the 5th overall. their d is already pretty solid and they could really use a lot of help on offense maybe by drafting someone like MSP.
