CANONSBURG, Pa. -- Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Sergei Gonchar has practised for the first time since injuring his right knee during a collision with Alex Ovechkin and hopes to play in Wednesday's Game 7 against Washington.
Gonchar says it will be a game-time decision whether he takes the ice Wednesday.
The defenceman expected to be out for at least the rest of the series after being injured by a knee-to-knee hit instigated by Ovechkin in Game 4 of the Penguins-Capitals series on Friday night.
The injury was not as bad as initially feared, and Gonchar was among a handful of Penguins players taking part in an optional skate Tuesday. The Penguins have split two games with Washington since Gonchar went down.

Won't matter, Caps still win. And if they don't, the Pens will get beat by Cam "I'M SO INCREDIBLY AVERAGE IN THE REGULAR SEASON BUT I'M EXTRAORDINARILY AWESOME AT PULLING WINS FROM MY ASS IN THE POST SEASON" Ward.

Although I agree that the Penguins will mostly likely fall to Ward and the Hurricanes, I believe that they will get past the Capitals. Fleury can play absolutely amazing when he has to, and I don't think Varlamov will be able to stand up to Crosby, Malkin, and the rest of the Penguins, when it's a do or die situation. Crosby will have one hell of a game tomorrow night.
