Brett Favre is like Hulk Hogan: constantly trying to come back after reliving the glory days, damaging his morale. It isn't making Farve look honorable at all.

You can put Michael Jordan in that group as well.

Why can't anyone see that this time it's a little different. I too am tired of all the "should I retire or comeback" scenarios, but the thing is that Favre isn't the one behind it this time. You have the media and the Vikings to blame for that.

The Viking would not be having talks with him if he didn't want to play anymore

I used to like Favre, but I've come to realize that he seems to covet attention. In a way, he's not much different from Terrell Owens. He goes about it in a much different manner, but the way he happened to announce the whole "I want to play now" thing right when it happened to be a quiet time for NFL news was no coincidence.
If Favre has no interest in playing again, this is not story. If he wants to make sure this stays quiet even if he does have interest, he could easily ask Vikings management ot keep things on the down low. But I don't believe that's Favre's intent - he wants it to be public. I think that's what he misses as much as the game itself.

You can't blame him for considering their offer when he still has something left in the tank. He's not doing interviews or talking to the media, so how is he just doing this for the attention? The attention came to him without Favre lifting a finger to attract it. And he can't ask the Vikings that if they were already trying to do it and were failing at it.

They approached him about playing and NOW he's considering coming back. Not the other way around.
And if he did not consider coming back, this wouldn't be news.
