| Heres a thread for this years major league baseball season. I see probably a Boston/Yankees ALCS and a Cubs/Mets NLCS. |
I can see that happening. Looking at the NL, I don't see any other possibilities. I don't believe the Phillies can past the Mets for the division and I think that Atlanta, Cincinnati, or Arizona will take the wild card. With the Cubs taking the best record, they can beat either one of those teams in a series. The Mets will play the Dodgers and the way their teams stack up against each other, The Mets will come out on top. The Cubs match up well against The Mets. They have a better rotation and a better offensive, but the Mets have built a bettr bullpen. If The Cubs' bullpen holds up and doesn't end up anything like The Mets of last year, I see them going over in a good competitive series.
Looking at the AL, Boston is an obvious pick with the ridiculous team that they have. If A-Rod produces when he comes back and CC/Teixeira live up to their expectations, NY is a clear pick for the wild card. The Angels have no competition in that division and Cleveland looks like the pride of the central division. I think Boston will go over Cleveland and the Yankees will go over L.A. In a classic match-up, I just can't seem to pick a winner here. As the season progresses, I'll pick my winner.
Now with the World Series, I see the NL winning HFA so we're starting at Wrigley. Against the Yankees, I think that if the Cubs can maintain a healthy team that produces, they'll come out on top here in six games. Against Boston, however, it gets a little tougher. Either team can come out on top here if they get hot. The key here is if Chicago manages to get Peavy at the trade deadline. If they get that trade to happen, Cubs over Boston in seven games( I don't see either team winning on the road). If they don't get Peavy, anything goes here.
