Jordan sues Dowie over Palace exit
Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has issued a writ against former boss Iain Dowie, accusing him of a "fraudulent" exit from Selhurst Park.
The Eagles owner claims Dowie misled him when he obtained a release from a £1million compensation clause in his contract.
Dowie was appointed as Alan Curbishley's replacement at Charlton on Tuesday, prompting a furious response from Jordan.
The Palace chief believes he had reassurances from the former Oldham boss only wanted to leave the club to be closer to his family who still live in the north west.
"If he's under the impression he can leg me over in the way he has done, then he's sadly mistaken," Jordan told Sky Sports News.
A court representative tried to serve the writ on Dowie at Tuesday's press conference confirming his appointment at The Valley but was prevented from doing so.
Jordan added: "My football club waived compensation because he wanted to go back to the north.
"I released him from a £1million compensation clause because he said he wasn't going to do what he's done.
"I'll prove it to the High Court. Iain Dowie had a £1million compensation clause in his contract and there is no reason why I would take that out unless it was as a gesture of goodwill.
"My repayment for that is for Iain to do exactly what he said he was not going to do."
Dowie, however, has publicly said he wanted to leave Selhurst Park for a "new challenge".

I love how KJay tries to goad me into this sort of stuff!!
Jordan must think he has a strong case to be pursuing this matter, and therefore a little more than just Dowie verbally saying "I'd like to move up North to be near my family". If he has (and one would hope that as a succesful businessman....he has) then Charlton and/or Dowie are screwed and will have to pay the £1M compensation that formed Dowie's contract "get out".
If he has nothing other than conjecture then it's a futile gesture.
Of course, there will be the doomsayers from other clubs that will say "why pursue this, just let it go" but, as usual, I will fight our Chairman's corner on it. Just two weeks ago, supporters were saying to us, why are you putting such a big price on AJ's head....you'll never get it....that's silly money...that's much more than Crouch and Ashton went for....blah blah blah.
Well he stuck to his guns and got a damn good price in today's market. Now, he says ID has broken a point of law in his contract. If this is true, we stand to get £1m. So why would we not pursue it? We're not in a position to let people just walk out when we could get £1m in compensation so, as usual, he'll fight the clubs corner. Let's not forget it was his benevolence in letting Dowie leave as he claimed to be missing his family in the north that meant he was technically writing off the possibility of compensation only to see the guy then move 8 miles away!!

Not trying to goad you good buddy, just posting stuff that is relevant to the teams we all follow, otherwise Sunderland would never get a look in either. I personally hate Jordan but if nothing else he is a straight shooter who loves his club. I have the feeling that (as you say) he will have some relevant legal information other than a gentlemans agreement and I'm sure the nearly 10M that have will have been poured into club coffers by the end of this week will be put to good use for you next season.

Allegedly, the money from AJ goes straight to the new manager, however, I don't think that will truly happen.
We do have the £6.5m 2nd season parachute payment and £5m initial cash from AJ, but I'd be surprised if the new guy get's more than £3m to spend.
Probably quite rightly so, we've got to be careful!!

Realistically you've saved 1M str8 off the wage bill as well taking AJ off your books. It's just a case of getting hold of a true 20 goals per season striker if you want to go up. Akinbiyi would be a good purchase I think on a 1 year deal.
