The European Champion is decided with the ZSC Lions shutting out defending Euro Champions the Metallurg Magnitogorsk, 5-0. Last year representing the Euro league the Metallurg Magnitogorsk faced the New York Rangers and lost 4-3. Should the NHL choose the Stanley Cup Champion, and have them possibly embarassed at the Victoria Cup? Or should they send a lower playoff team, maybe even a non-playoff team? Thoughts?

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Well, it'll likely be one of the two or four (or is it six next year?) teams that are beginning the season with games in Europe. I also don't think they've confirmed the format for this year's event, since there were plans to eventually make it more of a tournament thing.
It's something I've given no consideration, to be honest.
They should send the Canucks so that everybody can laugh at them some more To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

The NHL is tentatively set to kick off the 2009-10 regular season in Europe, according to CBCSports.ca's Scott Morrison.
The league will stage three games overseas, with Calgary facing San Jose in Helsinki, Detroit taking on St. Louis in Stockholm, and Chicago squaring off against Florida in Prague.
During Hockey Night In Canada's Hotstove segment on Saturday night, Morrison said the games are still in the preliminary stages because the teams — especially the Detroit Red Wings — still have to satisfy their gate needs, .
There is also a concern with the teams playing a full slate of exhibition games (9) before beginning the regular season in Europe.
This would be the third time the NHL will begin its season in Europe.
Last year, the Ottawa Senators played two games against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm, and the New York Rangers also faced the Tampa Bay Lightning twice in Prague.
The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings competed in the first two games of the 2007-08 campaign in London, England.
Well looks like those could be the NHL teams heading to Europe to open the season against each other but sounds like the exhibition games against the Euro teams are not going over well.
Kiprusoff playing in Finland would be nice to see though. He lost some popularity in Finland when he refused to play in the last Olympics but I am sure would still have a lot of fans filling the place To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater.
