How do you rate the NBA?

I'm not ready to sit here and convince people that the NBA is "back".. It'll probably never reach what it was when it was Jordan's league or Larry and Magic.. but I think these playoffs have been the most interesting the NBA has been in a long time..

Sure it sucks that the Knicks and Celtics are so awful.. if they were good, the league would most definitely be more popular because of what those two cities bring..

However, look what we have here.. The Suns/Lakers series was outstanding except for the last game.. The Wizards/Cavs was really good with LeBron and Arenas going at it. The Bulls showed some promise and seem to be back on the right track which is great for the league....

Now you have two series in the Suns/Clippers and Mavs/Spurs where all the teams are playing great on offense back to 120 points on a regular basis.. and we've had multiple overtime games..

Then we have the Heat still in it with Shaq and Wade..

And finally.. LeBron and the Cavs are surprisingly tied 2-2 with the Pistons. LeBron still only 21-years old.

Well, this has a pretty entertaining postseason. But there are a few problems I have with it.

1. Too many teams make the playoffs. More than half the league makes the playoffs. bullshit. Making the playoffs should be a privelege, reserved for the best of the best. If it was only top 4 teams, then the match-ups would be almost exactly the same, except it would have been Nuggets vs. Suns right now. But the other 3 series would be exactly the same.

2. The two best teams in the West are playing each other in the second round. Shouldn't happen.

And, as far a how much I like basketball compared to the other major American team sports, it goes something like that:

I'm glad you brought up that issue because next season Stern is considering a rule that would have the team with the 2nd best record, even if they aren't a div. winner, seeded higher than a div. winner with a poor record.. I agree with this if he does it, but it will make the regular season even more pointless..

Also, I agree that there are too many teams. It should probably be 8 teams, 3 div. winners, and the wild card. They'll never do it though, so you are stuck watching the second round on although I enjoyed a couple of the 1st round matchups..

And as far as how much I like the NBA.. My favorite sports go like this. Keep in mind I'm not including UFC as a sport even though I really like it...

It's funny, I have very little interest in the NBA and NHL. However, I'm willing to concede the fact that a lot of my apathy towards both leagues stems from how pathetic the Bruins and the Celtics are and have been for a long time. If they were good, I may be more interested. The C's are definitely on the upswing though with a lot of young talent. Hockey, however, I don't think I'll ever really get back into unless they start fighting some more. I used to love it back in the days when the B's would roll out Jay Miller and Lyndon Byers and just drop the gloves with guys like Rob Ray and Tie Domie. Those were the days. Now, it's a league full of foreign pussies and horrible rule changes designed to cut down on aggressive play. Pluh......
