I don't understand how they choose the draft order, but I think it's B.S. that the Patriots should have to pick after the Chargers. The NFL deemed the Chargers to be the better team by having them in the playoffs so they should choose after the pats. Also I saw that the eagles are choosing after the Titans, so I have no fuggin clue how they determine who gets what draft position. I think the non playoff teams should choose first then the playoff teams, what do you think? and why?
Meh, it's always gone this way. It's just that this year because of the logjam at the the top that it shook out this way. Obviously the 11-5 Pats had a better year than the 8-8 Chargers, and therefore the Chargers need more help to get on the level of the Patriots. Teams making the playoffs != Better team overall. It just means they fulfilled a requirement set forth by the league. The Eagles are not choosing after the Titans, the Titans have the 30th selection. It goes by record, and has always gone by record(Save the two Super Bowl Participants)

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?

Not sure when you saw that, but it's wrong.
I can see why you're upset, considering your team had a better record and missed the playoffs, and now has to pick later as well -- but like SS said, this is the way it's always been, and I don't think many NFL people actually felt San Diego was better than New England this year.
So why should the 2 superbowl teams pick last? shouldn't it go strictly by regular season record? So if I get it correctly it goes by regular season record, unless you make the superbowl, then it goes by how far you made it in the playoffs. Seems stupid, why wouldn't they keep going, like loser of AFC and NFC title games get third to last and fourth to last (decided by record) and so on. If the Cardinals lose the superbowl they get the second to last pick, but if they lost the nfc title game they would have had the 20th or so pick, makes perfect sense. The Cardinals are clearly inferior(sp) to the pats (see regular season record) so shouldn't they pick before the pats also?

Because inaccurately, or accurately, those are deemed the two best teams. I thought that would be glaringly obvious. The Super Bowl is supposed to be the two best teams from each conference indeterminate of record. Therefore it makes sense that they would be the last two. They also aren't clearly inferior if they've made it this far, while the Pats are sitting at home. If they had lost one of those games than it makes sense, but if they make it to the Super Bowl they're auto top 2 in the league because only one other team has accomplished what they did.
Also, goto NFL.com. they have the order, the right order, considering it's well, their site <,<

Okay here's the reasoning. Outside of the two superbowl teams, everybody is determined by record. The reason why the Eagles are picking both before (21st) AND after (30th) the Titans is because they got a first round pick in a previous trade from Carolina, who had the same record as the Titans and lost a tiebreaker on strength of schedule thus they end up with a lower draft pick.
Other than that, the draft order is determined by record, and any tiebreakers that may apply (as is the case with Seattle at 4 and Cleveland at 5 because Seattle had a lower strength of schedule, and thus because they were "more" terrible than the Browns, they get the higher pick.)
SS, what I don't get is how you can say the chargers need more help than the pats(in your first post) when the Chargers clearly whipped the pats this year and made the playoffs. Yet you say the pats are not clearly better than the cards (in your second post) when the pats whipped them. What do you use as criteria for choosing which team is better? Regular season record (as in the first post) or how far you go in the playoffs (as in the second post)? You are showing the same faults in your logic that the nfl is. All I am saying is if you are going to use playoff success as criteria then use it across the board, and if you are going to use regular season record as criteria then use it across the board, now that seems obvious!
