Three Songs That Define....(Topic Number 3: Death)
Death. It's shills out many ominous emotions. Dark, sad, eerie, mourning, etc.
It's also an issue artists have tackled a alot in song.
What in your opinion are the top three songs that define death?
Here is mine:
1. Bob Dylan - Knocking On Heaven's Door
It's been covered by a lot of great artist. It also shows the amazing lyricist that Bob Dylan is. He's a poet with drive and fire, and in this song, emotion. Just a very touching song.
2. Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper
It belongs on this list. Possibly one of the greatest rock songs ever. The story of people giving up the fight and the reaper coming to them.
3. Mastodon - Crack The Skye
I am a little biased on this pick. I'm a big Mastodon fan. But this song is an emotional rollercoaster. It talks about Brann Dailor, the dummer, and how his sister committed suicide.
Honorable mentions go to Ocean Breathes Salty by Modest Mouse, Fade To Black by Metallica, Keep Me In Your Heart by Warren Zevon, and Them Bones by Alice in Chains.
What is your three songs?

Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde
Youthanasia is so underrated. This isn't my fav song on the album, but it's always one of the first songs I think of when I think of death, and is proof that Megadeth are a versatile band.
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
I love this. The verses are particularly epic. Great vocals from Anselmo and great guitar work from Dime (RIP).
Alice In Chains - Rain When I Die
Obviously any AIC song to do with death just seems more impactful now (RIP Layne). This has always been one of my favs, from a great album. Love the bass in this.
There are so many for this, but these are the first ones that came to mind, as well as Eminem's "When I'm Gone" (just for the chorus really) and Devin Townsend's "Suicide" which get honorable mentions. The topic of suicide could really get its own one of these threads though. Hallowed Be Thy Name is another one I could have included.
