Was browsing through the "Entertainment" forum this morning and saw news stories on: Jurassic Park 4, Indy 5, Robocop, etc....and it got me thinking: Wow, we have had a TON of sequels or re-makes from old tv shows/movies lately.
What is your opinion on this? Are you fine with seeing a "Get Smart" remake and another "Bond" movie over and over, or do you enjoy when Hollywood actually puts out movies with a fresh idea?
It doesn't seem to happen often lately, but original plots and stories with NEW characters seem to be less and less the norm these days in Hollywood. Frankly, I'm sick of the remakes and sequels. You?

And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (12/1/2008)
There is no part of American life that hasn't been soiled by the new, softer, artificial language. It's everywhere. When you travel, you notice it in the hotel business, or as they prefer to think of themselves now, the hospitality industry.
Writers in Hollywood and television "borrow" other writers' ideas all the time...so they might as well borrow their own ideas to make a sequel or remake. It's best when they put a slight spin on it though.
I understand what jayman is saying, but I also get where Hollywood is coming from. We grew up with these blockbusters, so re-making them now with the technology we have is not only prolly fun for them and us to see, but a sure win it will do good.
Well, I don't know.. On one hand, I like the idea of remakes if they are done correctly, (see: current The Dark Knight direction) and I like sequels if they have a point or something to expand upon.. but I don't like the idea of a sequel just for the fuck of it.. (Saw, Fast and Furious, etc.)
If the franchise has a valuable dollar sign to it and it's a sequel involving the original players I agree with it. See the hype for Indy 5 as an example of this.
However rehashing an 80's series or movie that has nothing to do with the original other than script is most times a bad idea.
I like reliving my past movie memories but not if the movie is crap and here lately Hollywood has been getting these remakes dead wrong. See Dukes of Hazzard as an example of crap remakes.
Well if i become a movie director i'm remaking the Spiderman movies cause these suck. Yeah i think its kinda cool hoyylwood is remaking movies cause they are now showing movies that was good then and the people then loved to the audicence now to show to this generation to see. Indy 4 was not good i don't know why they making an Indy 5. The James Bond movies are awesome chill bul.
I agree they shouldn't be remaking movies for the hell of it like Halloween. Fast and Furious and Saw they cannot remake anyway, and since when those movies were remakes???? And get the fuck outta here Get Smart was a remake! Lmao!
I have no problem with what hollywood is doing its cool.
Nope i never heard of it. And whats the point of remaking only the 3rd one when i can remake all of them. Batman 1 and 2 was good and Nolan remaking all the Batman movies still, plus most of america thought Spiderman 2 wasn't that good but better then 3.
