Top promotions in the world are : UFC which is the American company and Dream has started up in Japan.
They have slightly different rules, like the UFC does 3 rounds of 5 minutes each where Dream does 2 rounds; 1st round is 10 minutes and second round is 5.
Style wise basically is brazilian jit jutsu, it's a submission style of fighting developped by the Gracie's. It kinda showed that size doesn't matter in fighting. But there's also wrestling, kickboxing/boxing, muay thai and some have utilized judo as well.
And championships are in weight classes there is; bantamweight (135 pounds max), featherweight (145 pounds max), lightweight depends on promotion but most are 155 pound max), welterweight (170 pound max), middleweight (185 pound max), lightheavy weight (205 max) and heavyweight (260 max).
Each division has there kinds with lightweight being the most competitive but the kings of each are; bantamweight: Miguel Torres (fights for WEC), featherweight: Urijah Faber/Kid Yamamoto (Urijah WEC and Kid is supposed to fight for Dream), lightweight: BJ Penn (UFC) he beat Gomi Dmac he's #1, welterweight: George St. Pierre (my boi he fights UFC), Middleweight: Anderson Silva (UFC), lightheavy weight: Rampage Jackson, but the division is so stacked anyone can beat anyone (Rampage fights for UFC), Heavyweight: Fedor Emelianenko (Affliction).

How could I forget it when they just had a show last night and I was talking with it to Shaun, besides Robbie Lawler they really don't have any top fighters, Ninja Rua has just fallen, Diaz is not a lightweight or welterweight contendor by any means, same with KJ.
They have a big tv contract but top fighter wise they aren't a top company by any means
