Joe Calzaghe has ruled out fighting America's WBC and WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik this year.
The Welshman had been tipped to fight Pavlik, who eased to a third-round defeat of Calzaghe's stable-mate Gary Lockett in Atlantic City last week.
But the 36-year-old Calzaghe told the South Wales Argus: "A lot of people would love to see it.
"However, at this point, I think it's unlikely. I'm not sure if Pavlik really wants to face me at the moment."
Calzaghe, the world's best at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight, added: "He would have little to gain because I believe I would definitely beat him and, with respect to Gary Lockett, I would be a step-up too far for Pavlik."
However, after the victory over Lockett - his 30th career knockout in 34 victories - the 26-year-old Pavlik said: "Joe Calzaghe would be a great fight for me."
Two titles or not, this is obviously not big enough for Joe, he was to go out in a huge way and is obviously holding out for Roy Jones Jr.

If he wants to fight Roy Jones Jr. he should have done so a few years ago when it would have been a much more competitive fight. Jones is clearly out of his prime and nowhere near as good as he used to be. I'm not saying that it's not going to be a good fight or Jones has no chance. I'm just saying it would be better. I think he should fight Pavlik.
Jones wants it more than Calzaghe does so that logic is gone DJ, Jones wants it so bad he even said he would fight him twice, once in American and again in the UK.

I didn't mean that Jones didn't want the fight. He always wants to fight. I'm saying I want to see a better fight and right now I think that Pavlik is the better choice
