EliteXC To Introduce Heavyweight Title In 2008

During the EXC conference call today Gary Shaw made the announcement that EXC will be introducing a heavyweight championship sometime this year.

Shaw stated that potential contenders for the title included Junoir Silva, Kimbo Slice, and James Thompson.

There are quite a few heavyweight free agents on the market right now but with Affliction picking a lot of the top heavies out there to fight on their debut show it may be hard to find fighters to contend for the belt.

Another interesting tidbit from the call today though, was that Shaw stated that he would be interested in working with Affliction to co-promote show. He stated that he would not allow his fighters to wear Affliction clothing to the cage during his shows but in terms of a co-promotion he would be all for it.
MAY introduce a HW title in 2008? They need titles to heat up the competition.
