Big ups to BloodyElbow. I scanned UFC.com this morning and missed this little blurb on their calendar:
United States: Live on Spike TV on the east coast, tape delayed for the west coast.
A dangerously mediocre card just got a little tastier with the big “FREE” sticker that seems to have been applied. The broadcast will begin live at 3PM EST, like all cards from the Merry Ol’. The fight card took a huge hit when Chuck Liddell was removed from his scheduled fight against Rashad Evans due to a hamstring injury (evidenced by a “Give It Away” type closeup of his inner thigh). Whether the cancellation of the original main event caused the move to free TV is unknown.
The official Fight Card still shows the Fabricio Werdum vs. Brandon Vera fight as the headliner. The rumored bout between native English fighter Michael Bisping and Team Quest product Chris Leben is yet to be announced, but word is Leben is already signed to fight on the card. Assuming James Irvin has had all shards of Houston Alexander’s chin successfully removed from his right hand, he’s as good as booked to step in for Liddell. Irvin vs. Evans is supposedly already confirmed, but the website has yet to reflect the change

Franklin VS. Okami at UFC 72 wasn't free...so this is worth noting.
It isn't so out of the question that UFC might charge for a PPV that takes place in England. I was guessing since Liddell was on the card the UFC was gonna charge people since he's such a big draw. But now suddenly that he's out, that's why they announced it for being free since Vera VS. Werdum as a headliner wouldn't be enough.
Vera VS. Werdum should be a good fight. Interesting to see who comes out with the win between Evans and Irvin. I think it would have been better to see Evans VS. Alexander, but since Houston lost, I guess its the right move.
Well the fact is really that it is only fair to give you guys the England shows for free because if you reverse it, we get all of the shows free, except the ones that are here lol.

Not only that but if we want the show live we have to order it at 3 pm ish and that is such a shitty time for a ppv like no one wants to start drinking and getting rowdy at 3 pm.

At least you can be drunk as shit by then and see people smash each other out. I wouldn't mind watching a PPV at 2 AM for FREE so I could actually go out and enjoy my saturday night, come back and watch UFC!
I had to miss St. Pierre VS. Serra II cause there was a hot ass party that I had to go to. I love UFC, but getting drunk and gettin women > UFC.
