A former NFL All-Star offensive lineman will make his mixed martial arts debut at the age of 42 at "Battle Cage Xtreme IV" Saturday, April 19 from the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Carlton Haselrig, a Pittsburgh Steeler from 1990-1993, will take on former IFL Tucson Scorpions member Shane Ott with the promotion's USKBA-sanctioned heavyweight title up for grabs.
Haselrig (0-0) comes from a strong wrestling background, winning six NCAA titles while attending the University of Pittsburgh at Johnston. He was inducted into the NCAA 75th Anniversary Wrestling Team in 2005.
Ott (3-2) was released by the IFL when the Scorpions squad was among the league-created teams phased out of the league when the IFL changed the team format in favor of actual existing mixed martial arts camps. Ott debuted for the IFL as a replacement for the Toronto Dragons, handing Chad Griggs his first career loss by way of kimura submission in the first round.
