Its not until January 24th, but I'm seriously looking forward to the next Affliction show. The card looks solid. The Emelianenko-Arlovski fight should be good. The Belfort-Mousasi fight has me quite interested as well. I'm still hopeful that Affliction could work something out with Eddie Alvarez as well.
Wamma Heavyweight Championship: Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrey Arlovski
Middleweight Bout: Vitor Belfrot vs Gegard Mousasi
Lightweight Bout: Chris Horodecki vs Dan Lauzon
Heavyweight Bout: Josh Barnett vs TBA
Middleweight Championship: Matt Lindland vs Renato Sobral
Light Heavyweight Bout: Vladimir Matyushenko vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
What happened to Barnett facing Arlovski for the right to fight Fedor?
So far as I know, they were going to have that fight at the November show, which isn't happening. So rather than push back Fedor fighting by another two or three months, they just gave the shot to Arlovski. Most likely because he's better known in the US than Barnett.
I am confused, is Antonio Rogerio Nogueira not part of the ufc? I thought they did not share their fighters?
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is part of the UFC. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is his twin brother, a solid light heavyweight fighter. Hence why Rodrigo is often called Big Nog, while Rogerio is Little Nog. Big Nog is elite, while Little Nog is just quite good. Both used to fight in Pride. Big Nog is the one they refer to as "Minotauro".

I think they offered Josh the fight but he turned it down. I could be confused with one of the other times he has done that. In the past he has use the fact that he doesn't have enough time to train, and contract negotiations to not fight Fedor, while still fighting on the same card. Which is too bad, hopefully Affliction can put that fight together.
Stoked for Arlovski/Fedor. Couture is my favourite fighter, but I think this is a much more dynamic fight.
Vlad vs Little Nog will be fun as well.
Lindland vs Babalu is a catchweight fight at 190 I thought, so that Babalu can ease into fighting at middleweight. Still should be great, (Unless Lindland shows up like he did at the last card).

It also looks like the MMA-and-boxing PPV that was being hyped awhile ago won't happen. At least on this one.
Think you might be right about Barnett being offered the fight with Fedor, Zar. I recall reading something about that too, and I think it came down to money. Don't know if they were low-balling him or just not offering him what Sylvia got. Because poor Tim Sylvia made a ton to get in that ring and take his beating from Fedor.
So I'm hoping there are a few MMA fans on here beyond me (and I assume Fedor) who also go outside the UFC for our MMA. This is a pretty decent card, and the main event is very good. Honestly, I think its a more "important" fight than St. Pierre-Penn next weekend ,as its a pairing of two top five heavyweights who have never faced each other before. I've seen people argue its number one (Fedor) against number two (Arlovski), though I'm not sure Arlovski being quite as high as number two heavyweight. I'm not sure who would be, though.
For those UFC fans who only remember Arlovski for his boring fights against Sylvia (the third one) and Werdrum, the old aggressive Arlovski seems to be back. He looked good in his last two fights against some legit competition in Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson. Everyone likes to overlook Nelson because he's a bit of a butterball, but he's a legit guy who would likely be in the UFC if he "looked" the part.
