"Several fighters with Elite XC have gotten word today the promotion is down for the count after CBS pulled out of talks to purchase the company. The death of the deal was the Seth Petruzelli statements causing the investigation by the Florida Boxing Commission on the Kimbo vs. Petruzelli fight.
As of this moment, the Nov. 8 show in Reno has not been officially canceled."

If true, I kinda feel bad for all the fighters that have worked hard to be where they are. It was bound to happen.

Shame, it'd be nice to see a company competing with UFC, but people seem to fly into these things completely blind and pay ridiculous amounts of money to fighters, thinking they are gonna walk out of it doubling their money because UFC is so popular. They just don't even bother looking back at the fact that when Dana and the crew came in UFC was on life support and they had to build it up from scratch and totally re-vamp it.
Im glad, after hearing about them pushing Petruzzili to not take Kimbo to the ground...it really smashed their credibility in my eyes. They were looking like the IBF of MMA for a minute...

I know, after I heard about those comments, I knew that the business wouldn't be able to last that kind of negativity. once Kimbo lost his fight, and the Chosen One of the MMA wasn't so special anymore, there wasn't much left in EliteXC.

I dont think Kimbo was the sole problem...The effects of his loss surely wouldnt be felt THIS quickly...the problem is more in the smaller feds they rried to swallow up and fund, and well as their deal with Shotime which supposedly had them losing money

Thats what they get for trying to make a THUG there main event guy" KIMBO SLICE" WHO IS ALL HYPE!!! He's nothing more than a Wanna B SHUGE NIGHT!!! We seen what happen to Shuge. The same thing happend to KIMBO. He got Knocked the fuuuuuuuu-out!!!!I remember when The stocky/chubby white guy who was a Boston Police Officer whooped Kimbo ass in a bareknuckle fight. I knew then ,he was all HYPE!!! Thats what you get for trying to make a Thug into a real champion.Dana White U.F.C. President said no way to Kimbo.Dana said, Kimbo is a joke and maybe low mid-card guy/fighter at best.He said there worst Heavyweight would kill him.
I think someone like Matt Hughes and George ST.Pierre who weighs 155lbs would smoke Kimbo slice!!!HA-HA Elite E.C. ha-ha !!! By the way, Brock Lesner would have put Kimbo in the hospital!!! I wished I could of seen that!!!!

Reason: adding & spelling.
It had nothing to do with Kimbo losing, it had everything to do with Seth coming out and saying he was paid a more to stand up, sure Kimbo losing hurt but Seth's comments would have hurt the company finiancially just as bad.

^^^Yeah but the after-effects of that fight wouldnt have caused them to go into the red inside of 3 weeks. THis had to have been a problem they were facing for awhile. Looking back, I think they tried to make Kimbo/Carano their last ditch efforts at some type of revenue stream...like a way to save the brand.
Def didnt work though, lol. Good. UFC/WEC for the win.

Frank Shamrock offered to step up and fight Kimbo that night. If only Elite XC would have agreed to that they would not be in this situation.
If Shamrock won, it would not be half as bad as some TUF reject winning.
